The 2024 WNBA Commissioner's Cup (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2024 WNBA Commissioner's Cup presented by Coinbase ) is the WNBA's fourth Commissioner's Cup in league history. The Cup featured a transition away from the ten-game format to a five-game format, with some teams only having two home games. The best team in cup play from each conference faces off in a championship game. [1] [2] The Cup was won by the Minnesota Lynx, the franchise's first Commissioner's Cup. [3]
The team with the best record in cup games from each conference will play in the championship game against each other, with the team having the best record hosting the game. This season, the cup shifted to a five-game per team format instead of the previous ten games per team. All games were played between June 1, 2024 and June 13, 2024. [1] [4] The team with the best record hosted the Cup Final. With their 5–0 cup record, that was the New York Liberty. Their regular home arena, the Barclays Center, was unable to host due to the NBA draft being hosted there on June 26. Therefore, the final was hosted at the UBS Arena in the Nassau County community of Elmont. [5]
Each team selects a charity of their choice to represent, and support thought the Commissioner's Cup series. [6]

The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is a women's professional basketball league based in the United States. The league comprises 13 teams. It is considered the premier professional women's basketball league in the world. The league's headquarters are located in New York City.
The New York Liberty are an American professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The Liberty compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The team was founded in 1997 and is one of the eight original franchises of the league. The team is owned by Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, the majority owners of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets. The team's home games are played at Barclays Center.

Lindsay Marie Whalen is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Whalen played college basketball at the University of Minnesota, and led the team to its only NCAA tournament Final Four appearance in 2004. Selected fourth overall in the 2004 WNBA draft by the Connecticut Sun, Whalen played for 15 seasons in the WNBA with the Sun and the Lynx, and is considered one of the best point guards in WNBA history.

Lindsey Marcie Harding is an American professional basketball coach and former player. She is an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Throughout her playing career, Harding played for the Minnesota Lynx, Washington Mystics, Atlanta Dream, Los Angeles Sparks, New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and has played overseas in Turkey and Russia. She was previously a scout and a player development coach for the Philadelphia 76ers. She was born in Mobile, Alabama, but grew up in Houston, Texas, and also holds a Belarusian passport.

The regular season began on June 3 with the Los Angeles Sparks hosting the Minnesota Lynx, featuring 2011 WNBA draft top pick Maya Moore, in a game televised on NBA TV. Four games followed the next day, with the marquee matchup, televised on ABC, featuring the defending champion Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury in Seattle.

Napheesa Collier, nicknamed "Phee", is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Collier is also a founder of the Unrivaled basketball league along with Breanna Stewart. After playing college basketball for the University of Connecticut Huskies, Collier was drafted by the Lynx with the 6th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA draft. She has won two Olympic gold medals playing on the United States women's national basketball team in the Tokyo 2020 and the Paris 2024 games. She is also currently a vice president on the Women's National Basketball Players Association executive committee.
Sabrina Elaine Ionescu is an American professional basketball player for the New York Liberty of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks and is considered one of the greatest collegiate players of all time.
The 2020 WNBA season was the 24th season of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Washington Mystics were the defending champions. Planned changes to the league's schedule included an increase from 34 to 36 regular season games for each team, the introduction of a mid-season Commissioner's Cup tournament, and more games broadcast on ESPN and ABC. This was the first season under a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and the WNBA Players Association. However, on April 3, the season was indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under a plan approved on June 15, the league began a shortened 22-game regular season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, without fans present on July 25. A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces was named the league MVP. The Seattle Storm won the 2020 WNBA Finals over the Aces, and Breanna Stewart was named the Finals MVP.
