The 2023 Dolphins season is historically the inaugural season for the Dolphins club in the professional National Rugby League (NRL) football competition in Australia. With Wayne Bennett as head coach and Jesse Bromwich as the regular team captain, the Dolphins competed in the 2023 NRL Telstra Premiership but did not qualify for the finals. Nevertheless, they finished in thirteenth place, ahead of four other established teams.

The 2023 Newcastle Knights season was the 36th in the club's history. Coached by Adam O'Brien and co-captained by Jayden Brailey and Kalyn Ponga, they competed in the NRL's 2023 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season in 5th place, thus reaching the finals. The Knights made it to the second week of finals, before being knocked out by the New Zealand Warriors.

The 2024 Parramatta Eels season was the 78th season in the club's history and the 27th in the National Rugby League. Coached by Brad Arthur for his eleventh consecutive season, and co-captained by Clinton Gutherson and Junior Paulo, the team competed in the 2024 NRL Telstra Premiership during the regular season and also participated in the Pre-season Challenge in February during their pre-season fixtures.

The 2024 Brisbane Broncos season was the 37th in the club's rugby league football history. In round 26 on 31 August at Suncorp Stadium, the Dolphins won the Battle for Brisbane derby 40-6. By the end of that round, the Brisbane Broncos did not have enough premiership points to qualify for the finals. The following week at Suncorp, 2024 minor premiers Melbourne Storm defeated Brisbane 50-12 in their last game of the year.
