The Korean Music Awards is an annual South Korean music awards show that honors both mainstream and underground musical artists from a variety of genres. Unlike other major South Korean music awards, which largely rely on record sales to determine winners, the Korean Music Awards distributes awards based on the recommendations of a panel of judges consisting of music critics, radio show producers, academics, and other professionals within the industry. The first ceremony was held in 2004, and is regarded as one of the most prestigious music awards in the country.
The MAMA Award for Song of the Year is an honor presented at the annual MAMA Awards, a South Korean awards ceremony presented by Mnet. One of the event's most prestigious daesang awards, it was first awarded during the ceremony's eighth edition in 2006—then titled the Mnet KM Music Festival. Having gone through various name changes since its inaugural ceremony in 1999, it was renamed the Mnet Asian Music Awards from 2009 until it was rebranded as the MAMA Awards in 2022.

"OMG" is a song by the South Korean idol girl group NewJeans from their single album of the same name (2023). ADOR, a division of Hybe Corporation, released "OMG" for download and streaming on January 2, 2023. Park Jin-su produced the track and composed it with Ylva Dimberg and David Dawood. Written by Dimberg, Gigi, and NewJeans member Hanni, the lyrics are about romantic obsession. An incorporation of R&B, hip hop, and pop, "OMG" features hip-hop percussion, trap rhythms, and a UK garage-inflected groove. It also features plucked staccato synth chords, skittering cowbells, and layered vocal harmonies and percussion. Referencing Park Chan-wook's 2006 film I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, the music video depicts the members with different mental illusions. To promote "OMG", NewJeans performed it on South Korean music programs, international music festivals, and awards shows.

With a sound rooted in Baltimore club, the track incorporates a balladic electronic and dance production with influences of house, breakbeat, and UK garage. The lyrics are about reminiscing a platonic love.
