The 42nd Gawad Urian Awards (Tagalog : Ika-42 na Gawad Urian) was held on June 18, 2019 at the UPFI Film Center at the University of the Philippines. The best Philippine films for the year 2018 were honored in the event.

Contents

Nominations were announced on May 9. [1] Buy Bust received the most nominations with ten. [1] Eddie Garcia and Anne Curtis received double nominations in their respective categories as Best Actor and Best Actress.

Buy Bust won four awards, including Best Picture. [2] The Natatanging Gawad Urian was awarded to Gloria Sevilla. [2]

Christian Mercurio Bables, is a Filipino actor. He was declared Best Leading Actor at the 5th Hanoi International Film Festival for his character "Intoy" in the movie Signal Rock. He was also awarded as the Best Actor at the 47th Metro Manila Film Festival for his character "Dharna" in the movie Big Night. He was also given a Best Supporting Actor Award at the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival and Gawad Urian Awards for his trans woman character "Barbs" in the movie Die Beautiful.

The Gawad Urian Lifetime Achievement Award is an honorary award instituted in 1977 that is presented annually by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino to "movie actors, directors, writers, cameramen, musicians, technicians and cosmetic artists whose lifework can be held up as a standard of excellence for all."
