The 9th Parliament of Solomon Islands, determined by the 2010 general election, was the National Parliament of Solomon Islands from 2010 until 2014. It was preceded by the eighth and followed by the tenth.
The 9th Parliament consisted in 50 representatives, elected from 50 single-seat constituencies. [1]

The following were the 50 members of the 9th Parliament. [4]
Of these, only seven had been in Parliament prior to 2006. Job Tausinga is Parliament's veteran, having been continuously elected since 1984. Danny Philip was first elected in 1984, but lost his seat in 2001, before regaining it in 2010. Walter Folotalu was first elected in 1994, lost his seat in 1997, and returned to Parliament in a by-election in 2008. Manasseh Sogavare and Snyder Rini have both continuously been elected since 1997. Gordon Darcy Lilo is serving his third consecutive term, having first been elected in 2001. And James Tora first entered Parliament in a by-election in 2004. Twenty other MPs (including the now deceased Toswel Kaua) are serving their second term, while the other twenty-three (including the now deceased Steve Laore, and disgraced Jimmy Lusibaea) are first time MPs. From among these MPs, Prime Minister Danny Philip appointed his Cabinet on 27 August, [6] while Opposition Leader Steve Abana appointed his Shadow Cabinet on 31 August. Additionally, Clay Forau was elected Leader of the Independent Members of Parliament. [7]

Allan Kemakeza was the seventh Prime Minister of Solomon Islands from 2001 to 2006. He represented Savo/Russel Constituency in the National Parliament of Solomon Islands from 1989 to 2010 and was most recently Minister of Forestry December 2007 to August 2010. He served as Speaker of the National Parliament, from September 2010 to 2014.
The Solomon Islands Democratic Party is a political party in Solomon Islands. In a country in which political parties tend to be small and transient, and to obtain very few seats in Parliament, the Democratic Party has played a comparatively major role in recent history.

Mark Roboliu Kemakeza is a former member of the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands. He represented Ngella constituency. He is from Savo Island, which is in the Central Province.
Daniel Enele Kwanairara was a Solomon Islands politician.
Augustine Taneko was a member of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands, representing the Shortlands constituency. He lives in Shortlands, in the Western Province, and was first elected in 2001. He was replaced by Steve Laore. After Steve Laore's death, Taneko ran for election to his former seat, finishing 2nd to Christopher Laore.
Hilda Thugea Kari is a Solomon Islands politician, the first woman to be elected to the National Parliament of Solomon Islands.
Steve Eresi Laore was a Solomon Islands politician and member of parliament. Formerly a mechanic and businessman, and owner of a construction company, he defeated Augustine Taneko to become MP for the Shortlands constituency. He was a member of the Pacific Casino Hotel group that elevated Danny Philip to the position of prime minister.
Jimmy Lusibaea, also known as Jimmy "Rasta", is a Solomon Islands politician.

A by-election was held in the Shortlands constituency in Solomon Islands on March 30, 2011. The election followed the death of MP Steve Laore, an Independent, who was elected to the seat for his first term in the 2010 general election, and died just twenty-one days later, on August 25.
