A-Film Benelux B.V. (formerly known as A-Film Distribution) was an independent film distributor, based in the Netherlands.

History

A-Fim Distribution was founded in 1999 by film producers San Fu Maltha and Pim Hermeling to distribute films. with releases such as Costa! and Love is All . The company also distributed non-Dutch films such as Alexander , Lost in Translation , The Pianist and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. [2] In 2006, the company won Golden Calf awards for Waiter , Black Book , Night Ride and Bonkers . [3] That same year, San Fu Maltha left A-Film. [4]

In May 2013, the company merged with Benelux Film Distributors to form A-Film Benelux. [5]

On 14 September 2015, The company filed an automatic stay and filed for Bankruptcy the next day. [6] [7] [1] Dutch FilmWorks bought the distribution rights to company's film library on 3 November. [8]

Black Book is a 2006 war drama thriller film co-written and directed by Paul Verhoeven, and starring Carice van Houten, Sebastian Koch, Thom Hoffman and Halina Reijn. The film, credited as based on several true events and characters, is about a young Jewish woman in the Netherlands who becomes a spy for the resistance during World War II after tragedy befalls her in an encounter with the Nazis. The film had its world premiere on 1 September 2006 at the Venice Film Festival and its public release on 14 September 2006 in the Netherlands. It is the first film that Verhoeven made in his native Netherlands since The Fourth Man, made in 1983 before he moved to the United States.

Wild Bunch AG is a German film distribution company, originally created in 1979 as Senator Film Verleih GmbH, which later became Senator Entertainment AG. Benelux Film Distributors, also known as Benelux Film Distributors Home Entertainment, BFD and BFDHE, was a joint venture of various independent film distributors founded in 2006. They marketed a wide range of films in cinemas and on home video in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. They distributed films by Lumière (Belgium), Inspire Pictures (Netherlands) and Dutch FilmWorks (Netherlands). The company Video/Film Express, founded in 1991, were merged with BFD on January 1, 2012. Subsequently, BFD had two offices in Ghent, Belgium and Houten.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Stolichnaya</span> Russian vodka brand

Stolichnaya is a vodka made of wheat and rye grain. It originated in the Soviet Union in 1938.
