AFL Premiership 2005 is a sports game for PlayStation 2 based on the Australian Football League (AFL). It is the ninth game in the AFL video game series.
The game features two modes: Season mode, where the player selects one of the 16 teams to play in the 2005 AFL season, and Career Mode, which includes the pre-season, home and away season, and finals. There is also, player trading, National AFL Draft and player development. AFL Tribunal is also used with in-game reports and suspensions. The company changed the annual numbering system for titles with the AFL Live Premiership Edition, but this edition would have been AFL Live 2006.
The game includes all 16 teams, more than 600 AFL players with updated stats and eight major stadiums which include:

Western AustraliaWhen Acclaim shut down its operations in Australia, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCEE) took over the publishing and distributing rights to the game. Originally it was only on the PlayStation 2. However, THQ released an Xbox and Microsoft Windows version of the game. THQ only called the game AFL Premiumship. The game is only available in Australia.

Jacob Townsend is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast Suns in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played 28 matches over four seasons with the Greater Western Sydney Giants and 20 matches over four seasons at Richmond. He won an AFL premiership with Richmond in 2017 while also winning the VFL's J. J. Liston Trophy that season as the league's best and fairest player during matches played with Richmond's reserves side, before winning a VFL premiership with the same reserves side in 2019. At the conclusion of the 2019 season, he was signed to the Essendon Football Club, and was delisted after one season, before being rookie-listed again, this time by Gold Coast.

Graham is a two-time premiership player, having featured in grand final wins for Richmond in both 2017 and 2020. As a junior he captained South Australia at the 2016 AFL Under 18 Championships and won the Larke Medal as the competition's best player. After being drafted by Richmond in the third round of the 2016 draft, he made his debut in round 22 of the 2017 season, before becoming a premiership player in just his fifth career AFL game.
