Abbas Tyrewala (born 15 May 1974) is an Indian screenwriter, lyricist and director. [1] After making his mark as a screenwriter and dialogue writer in the early 2000s, with award-winning films such as Maqbool (2003) and Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (2003). He made his debut as a director in 2008 with the romantic comedy film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na which became a critical and commercial hit and also featured an acclaimed soundtrack by A. R. Rahman.

Biography

Abbas Tyrewala was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 15 May 1974. He began working as a lyricist for the 2000 film Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!! and 2001 film Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega before writing dialogues for films starting with Asoka (2001). He made his directorial debut in 2008 with the comedy film Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na , starring Imran Khan. His second directorial was the 2010 film Jhootha Hi Sahi , starring John Abraham.
