Abdul Razak Dawood is a Pakistani industrialist who is the founder of Descon. He was the Federal Minister of Commerce,Industries &Production between 1999 and 2002 in the Pervez Musharraf administration and later served as the Adviser for Commerce and Investment to then-Prime Minister Imran Khan from 2018 until 2022. After initial schooling in the UK,Dawood studied and graduated in mining engineering from the Newcastle University. In 1968 he obtained his master's degree in business administration (MBA) from the Columbia University. [3]
He is a nephew of the late Seth Ahmed Dawood (1905–2002) who was considered one of the pioneering industrialists of Pakistan. [4]
Dawood began his career in the family business at Lawrencepur Woolen and Textile Mills in 1968 and later joined Dawood Hercules Chemical Limited as the managing director where he served until 1981.
In 1977,Dawood founded Descon. After his father and the siblings decided by the late 1970s and early 1980s to part ways,he became the CEO and chairman of Descon,a position he held until 2018. He is also a member of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. [5]
Dawood was a visiting faculty member in 1975 till 1981 at the newly established MBA Programme at the University of Punjab. In the early 1980s,he established the Suleman Dawood School of Business at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and has served as a member of the board of trustees of the university. Dawood is also the founder of the Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation,a non-profit organization based in Lahore. [7]

Mamnoon Hussain was a Pakistani politician and industrialist who served as the 12th president of Pakistan from 2013 to 2018. He also served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 to 2021. He announced his separation from politics on Twitter in a tweet. Later in a statement to the media,he said that he had no intentions of joining politics again and that he would focus on the welfare through the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation. In June 2023 he launched the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party along with Jahangir Khan Tareen. He is a founding member and the incumbent president of the party.
The Imran Khan government was the federal cabinet of Pakistan from 20 August 2018 to 10 April 2022. It was formed by Imran Khan following general elections on 25 July 2018,which saw the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf come to power. The cabinet had 34 federal ministers,7 ministers of state,10 Advisers to the Prime Minister and 35 Special Assistants to the Prime Minister (SAPM),most of whom assumed office on 20 August 2018. The government was dissolved on 3 April 2022 following the dissolution of the National Assembly of Pakistan by the President,Arif Alvi at the behest of the Prime Minister,Imran Khan. On 7 April 2022,the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the restoration of the Federal Cabinet and National Assembly. On 10 April 2022 the government was defeated in a Vote of No-confidence (VONC) against Imran Khan,leading to its subsequent dissolution.
