The Across the Great Divide Tour was a live DVD and release by Australian rock bands Powderfinger and Silverchair. Released on 1 December 2007,it followed two Melbourne concerts during the bands' two-month-long nationwide tour,titled the Across the Great Divide tour. The DVD was produced by filming company PVC Live,who have produced DVD releases for U2,Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead. [2] It was mixed in the United States in 5.1 surround sound,and filmed with 24 cameras. [2]
The DVD included a 90-minute documentary titled Behind the Great Divide,which followed the band members during the different concerts and events of the tour.
The DVD was ranked at number 13 on the ARIA's End-of-Year Charts for the Top 50 Music DVDs in 2007 [3] and was also certified 2×platinum (over 30,000 units sold). [4]
On 19 October 2008,the DVD won an award for Best Music DVD at the (22nd) Annual ARIA Music Awards put on by the Australian Recording Industry Association. They beat fellow nominees,Hilltop Hoods,Paul Kelly,John Butler,Wolfmother for the honour. [5]
Disc one and two featured a gallery of photographs taken at the Melbourne performances.

Daniel Paul Johns is an Australian musician,singer,and songwriter,best known as the frontman,guitarist,and main songwriter of the rock band Silverchair. Johns is also one half of The Dissociatives with Paul Mac and one half of Dreams with Luke Steele. On March 13,2015 Johns released his first solo EP Aerial Love and on March 22,2015,he released his first solo LP Talk in 2015. Johns' second solo album FutureNever was released on 22 April 2022.
Silverchair was an Australian rock band,which formed in 1992 as Innocent Criminals in Newcastle,New South Wales,with Daniel Johns on vocals and guitars,Ben Gillies on drums,and Chris Joannou on bass guitar. The group got their big break in mid-1994 when they won a national demo competition conducted by SBS TV show Nomad and ABC radio station Triple J. The band was signed by Murmur and were successful in Australia and internationally. Silverchair has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.
Paul Francis McDermott,who performs as Paul Mac,is an Australian electropop musician,singer-songwriter,producer and music re-mixer. He was classically trained at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Mac has formed various bands including Smash Mac Mac (1986–88),The Lab (1989–1998),Itch-E and Scratch-E (1991–present),Boo Boo Mace &Nutcase (1996–98),and The Dissociatives (2003–2005). Mac has released two solo albums,3000 Feet High and Panic Room –both appeared in the top 40 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Powderfinger were an Australian rock band formed in Brisbane in 1989. From 1992 until their break-up in 2010,the line-up consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning,guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug,bass guitarist John Collins and drummer Jon Coghill. The group's third studio album Internationalist peaked at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in September 1998. Neon Ballroom is the third studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair,released in March 1999 by record labels Murmur and Epic. The songs "Anthem for the Year 2000","Ana's Song " and "Miss You Love" were released as singles and a short film was released for the song "Emotion Sickness". Neon Ballroom debuted at No. 1 on the Australian albums chart and peaked at No. 50 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It was also their most successful album on the UK Albums Chart,where it peaked at No. 29. The album was nominated for 10 ARIA Awards and was certified Triple Platinum by the ARIA for selling over 210,000 copies in Australia. The album has been described as "heavy rock with orchestral flourishes and synthetic touches with powerfully emotional lyrics" that reflects the personal demons of frontman Daniel Johns due to the band's rapid international success.
Diorama is the fourth studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair,released on 31 March 2002 by Atlantic/Eleven. It won the 2002 ARIA Music Award for Best Group and Best Rock Album. The album was co-produced by Daniel Johns and David Bottrill. While Bottrill had worked on albums for a variety of other bands,Diorama marked the first production credit for lead singer Johns.

Live from Faraway Stables is a 2003 live album and concert film by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair. It was recorded at their concert held on 19 April 2003,at Newcastle Civic Theatre in the band's home-town of Newcastle,New South Wales,Australia, and was the second show to be held there during the band's Across the Night world tour of March to June 2003. It is Silverchair's first live release.
Young Modern is the fifth and final studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair,released in Australia on 31 March 2007 and in the United States on 24 July 2007 and co-produced by Daniel Johns and Nick Launay. The title comes from a nickname given to Daniel Johns by composer Van Dyke Parks. The tracks "Straight Lines","Reflections of a Sound","If You Keep Losing Sleep" and "Mind Reader" were released as singles. Young Modern entered the Australian albums chart at No. 1 on 15 April 2007,their fifth consecutive album to do this,making Silverchair the first band to accomplish this feat in Australia. The album was certified Triple Platinum by the ARIA,peaked at No. 70 on the US Billboard 200 chart and opened at No. 8 on the New Zealand albums chart. The Best Of:Volume 1 is the first compilation album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair,which was issued on 13 November 2000. It includes every single they had released up until that point,with the exception of "Shade". The album peaked at No. 15 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

The song was re-recorded and included on Frogstomp,the band's debut studio album,released six months later on 27 March 1995. Dream Days at the Hotel Existence is the sixth studio album by Australian rock band Powderfinger,released by Universal Music on 2 June 2007 in Australia,19 November 2007 in the United Kingdom,and 11 November 2008 in the United States on the Dew Process label. It was released in Australia with a limited edition bonus DVD,titled Powderfinger's First XI,featuring eleven music videos spanning the band's career,from the first single,"Tail" to "Bless My Soul",the band's latest single before the release of the album. "My Happiness" is a song by Australian rock band Powderfinger. It was released via record label Universal Music Australia in August 2000 as the first single from the band's fourth album,Odyssey Number Five. Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning wrote the lyrics for "My Happiness" as a reflection on the time the band spent touring to promote their work,and the loneliness that came as a result. It was inspired by his love of gospel and soul music. The rest of the band are co-credited with Fanning for composing the track. Despite its melancholy mood,"My Happiness" is considered by many to be a love song,a suggestion Fanning regards as mystifying.
The Across the Great Divide tour was a concert tour by Australian alternative rock bands Powderfinger and Silverchair in 2007. The tour featured concerts in 26 towns across Australia and multiple shows in New Zealand. According to Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning,the aim of the tour was to "show [that] both bands are behind the idea of reconciliation". Both bands aimed to increase awareness of the efforts of Reconciliation Australia to reduce the current 17-year gap in life expectancy between the average Australian life and that of Indigenous Australians. A triple DVD set was released with the same title as the tour on 1 December 2007 with the Melbourne performances for both bands and backstage occurrences from the tour.

The band's publicist,Ms. Fanclub,announced on 27 February that the single would be released to radioplay in the following week,without specifying a date. In her announcement,she also noted that a music video will be released at about the same time. The music video was then released in mid-March;however,the single's release was then announced as 31 March.
