Adam is an unincorporated community in Calhoun County, West Virginia, United States.
West Virginia is a state in the Appalachian, Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions of the United States. It is bordered by Pennsylvania to the northeast, Maryland to the east and northeast, Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, and Ohio to the northwest. West Virginia is the 41st-largest state by area and ranks 38th in population, with around 1.792 million residents. The capital and largest city is Charleston.
The National Road was the first major improved highway in the United States built by the federal government. Built between 1811 and 1837, the 620-mile (1,000 km) road connected the Potomac and Ohio Rivers and was a main transport path to the West for thousands of settlers. When improved in the 1830s, it became the second U.S. road surfaced with the macadam process pioneered by Scotsman John Loudon McAdam.
The Shenandoah Valley is a geographic valley and cultural region of western Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia in the United States. The valley is bounded to the east by the Blue Ridge Mountains, to the west by the eastern front of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians, to the north by the Potomac River and to the south by the James River. The cultural region covers a larger area that includes all of the valley plus the Virginia highlands to the west, and the Roanoke Valley to the south. It is physiographically located within the Ridge and Valley province and is a portion of the Great Appalachian Valley.

He was a community activist, author, and the father of Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Born into poverty in southwestern Virginia, Powell worked to put himself through school and Wayland Seminary, where he was ordained in 1892.
The Times West Virginian is a six-day morning daily newspaper based in Fairmont, West Virginia, which also covers the city of Bridgeport, West Virginia, and surrounding communities in Marion, Monongalia, Taylor and Harrison counties, West Virginia. The paper was founded as the Fairmont Times and West Virginian through the merging of the long-running Fairmont Times and Fairmont West Virginian in 1975. It adopted its current name in 1976. It does not publish a Sunday edition. It is published Monday thru Friday and a Weekend Edition delivered on Saturday mornings.

Adam Brown Littlepage was a lawyer and Democratic politician from West Virginia who served as a United States Representative. Congressman Littlepage was born near Charleston, West Virginia, in Kanawha County on April 14, 1859. He served as a member of the 62nd, 64th, and 65th United States Congresses. He died in Charleston, June 29, 1921.
Adam Stephen was a Scottish-born doctor and military officer who helped found what became Martinsburg, West Virginia. He emigrated to North America, where he served in the Province of Virginia's militia under George Washington during the French and Indian War. He served under Washington again in the American Revolutionary War, rising to lead a division of the Continental Army. After a friendly fire incident during the Battle of Germantown, Stephen was cashiered out of the army, but moved to western Virginia, where he became a prominent citizen and served in the Virginia General Assembly.
Cabin Creek is an unincorporated community in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States. Cabin Creek is located on the south bank of the Kanawha River at the mouth of Cabin Creek, southeast of Chesapeake. It was the site of an early African-American community in the late nineteenth century. A notable resident was Adam Clayton Powell, Sr. and his family, who had moved there from Virginia. An exit on the West Virginia Turnpike is located near here.
