Adam Lehan is a British musician who has worked with doom metal bands Cathedral and Workshed, thrash metal bands Acid Reign, Deadline and Lord Crucifier and folk band Beneath the Oak. [2]
Some of Lehan's uncles were members of the Grumbleweeds, which led to him beginning to learn to play guitar at the age of fourteen, with his early influences including Brian May, Eric Clapton and Ritchie Blackmore. In 1987 he formed his first band, Deadline, who were heavily influenced by the sound of Venom and would generally play concerts in punk rock and crust punk circles, rather than metal. In 1987, while still in Deadline, he joined first-wave black metal band Lord Crucifier, after their relocation to Halifax, West Yorkshire from Italy, however Lehan was only a member for a few months. After his departure from both bands, in 1988 he joined Acid Reign. [3] Lehan left Acid Reign in 1989 to form Cathedral with former Acid Reign member Garry Jennings, former Napalm Death vocalist Lee Dorrian, former Carcass roadie Mark Griffiths, as well as Andy Baker. [4] In 2013, Lehan and former Acid Reign and Cathedral bandmate Mark Wharton formed the doom metal band Workshed. [5] Workshed's debut self-titled album was released on 13 September 2019 through Rise Above Records. [6]
Doom metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "thicker" or "heavier" sound than other heavy metal genres. Both the music and the lyrics are intended to evoke a sense of despair, dread, and impending doom. The genre is strongly influenced by the early work of Black Sabbath, who formed a prototype for doom metal. During the first half of the 1980s, a number of bands such as Witchfinder General and Pagan Altar from England, American bands Pentagram, Saint Vitus, the Obsessed, Trouble, and Cirith Ungol, and Swedish band Candlemass defined doom metal as a distinct genre. Pentagram, Saint Vitus, Trouble and Candlemass have been referred to as "the Big Four of Doom Metal".
Sludge metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that combines elements of doom metal and hardcore punk. The genre generally includes slow tempos, tuned down guitars and nihilistic lyrics discussing poverty, drug addiction and pollution.
Cathedral were a doom metal band from Coventry, England. The group gained attention upon release of its debut album, Forest of Equilibrium (1991), which is considered a classic of the genre. However, the band's sound evolved quickly and began to adopt characteristics of 1970s metal, hard rock and progressive rock. After releasing ten full-length albums and touring extensively for over two decades, Cathedral broke up after the release of The Last Spire in 2013.
Lee Robert Dorrian is an English singer, best known as a former member of grindcore band Napalm Death and later frontman of doom metal band Cathedral.
The Accüsed is an American crossover thrash band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1981. The band was a progenitor of the crossover style that bridged the gap between thrashcore and thrash metal, later influencing grindcore and some crust punk bands; as well as an influential band in the Seattle area alternative scene. The band calls their music "splattercore", and their zombie mascot, Martha Splatterhead, appears on most of their albums. Common themes involve social issues and Martha Splatterhead coming back from the dead to slaughter rapists and child molesters.
Acid Reign are an English crossover thrash band, originally active from 1985 to 1991. The band rebooted in 2015 with just H remaining from the original line up. Along with Onslaught, Sabbat and Xentrix, Acid Reign are considered to be one of the "big four" of British thrash metal. To date, they have released three studio albums: The Fear (1989), Obnoxious (1990) and The Age of Entitlement (2019).
Forest of Equilibrium is the debut studio album by British metal band Cathedral, released on 14 October 1991 on Earache Records. It is considered a classic of its genre, doom metal. Forest of Equilibrium was notably inducted into Decibel magazine's Hall of Fame in February 2006 being the 12th inductee for the Decibel Hall of Fame.

Mark Ramsey Wharton is a British musician who has worked as the drummer of Acid Reign, Cathedral, Cronos, Asomvel and Workshed.
Workshed is an English heavy metal band formed in Harrogate in 2014. The band consists of former Cathedral and Acid Reign members Adam Lehan and Mark Wharton, and Helen Storer. Their debut self-titled album, recorded by Jaime Arellano, was released on 13 September 2019 through Rise Above Records.
