Adrian Lewis Morgan (born 15 February 1973) [1] is a British actor from Beddau, Wales, known for portraying the role of Jimmi Clay in the BBC soap opera Doctors . Having appeared since 2005, he is the longest serving cast member on Doctors.

Early life

Morgan was born in Beddau, [2] and has one sister. [3] Morgan attended Llantwit Fardre School, Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School, and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. [4] [1] [5] At the age of 17, Morgan worked in a hotel serving breakfasts, but left the job after two weeks. [1] In 1998, Morgan was involved in a car accident. [2]

Career

Morgan's first role was as Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd at the Royal National Theatre. [6] During his theatre career, he starred in various West End productions, including: Marius in Les Misérables ; Roger in Rent ; and Judas/Annas in Jesus Christ Superstar . [2] From 2001 to 2002, he appeared in the BBC medical drama Holby City as Liam Evans. [7] Since 2005, he has portrayed the role of Jimmi Clay in the BBC daytime soap Doctors . [8] He is the longest serving cast member on Doctors. [4]

<i>Doctors</i> (2000 TV series) British television soap opera

Doctors is a British medical soap opera, first broadcast on BBC One on 26 March 2000. Filmed in Birmingham and set in the fictional West Midlands town of Letherbridge, the soap follows the lives of the staff of both an NHS doctor's surgery and a university campus surgery, as well as the lives of their families and friends. Initially, only 41 episodes of the programme were ordered, but due to the positive reception, the BBC ordered it as a continuing soap opera. Doctors was filmed at the Pebble Mill Studios until 2004; production then relocated to the BBC Drama Village, where it will film until 2024. Episodes are filmed three months prior to transmission. The soap is typically broadcast on weekdays at 1:45 pm on BBC One, as well as having classic episodes broadcast on Drama. Morgan was a fan of the soap and was pleased to audition for a regular part. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 5 September 2005 and has gone on to become the programme's longest serving cast member. Upon his introduction, Jimmi is portrayed as being recently separated from his wife and being new to the medical profession. Jimmi has obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) and Morgan carried out his own research into the disorder to help his portrayal. He later admitted that Jimmi's OCD had begun to impact his own life.
