Aguascalientes is the capital of the state of Aguascalientes and is its most populous city, with a metropolitan population of 1,000,000. It is located in North-Central Mexico. It is part of the macroregion of Bajío, which is among the safest and most prosperous regions in Mexico. It was part of the kingdom of Nueva Galicia(along with the states of Jalisco, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Nayarit and a part of Michoacán), during the independence was part of Zacatecas in 1835 it became the capital of the Free and Sovereign State of Aguascalientes. Aguascalientes has repeatedly been recognized as one of the cities with the best quality of life in Latin America. Nowadays, Aguascalientes is a vigorous service city that is experiencing an ongoing social, economic, and aesthetic revitalization process. Notable for its high population in Japanese, Koreans, and Germans currently living in the city.

The stadium is named after a leading brand of beer brewed by Grupo Modelo.
