Albert Edward Harbot (1896-1968), was a male badminton player from England. [1]

Badminton career

Harbot born in Leicester [2] was a winner of the All England Open Badminton Championships. He won the mixed doubles in 1928 with Margaret Tragett. [3]

He gained his England caps while playing for Hampshire. [4]

Albert Prebble Badminton player

Albert Davis Prebble was an English badminton and tennis player and a prominent badminton official. He captained the England badminton team in their first international match against Ireland in 1903. He won the All England badminton men's doubles three times. He also won the badminton mixed doubles in 1909 with Dora Boothby, the same year that he reached the Wimbledon Championships mixed doubles final with the same partner.

Meriel Lucas English badminton player

Meriel Lucas was a former English badminton player. Lucas from Devon was capped by England on only seven occasions between 1902-1909 but won a remarkable 17 All England titles.

Hazel Hogarth was an English badminton player. Hogarth was capped by England thirteen times between 1904-1929 and was attributed as being the player who innovated the backhand serve. She had great success at the All England Championships winning eleven titles.

Margaret Tragett English badminton player

Margaret Rivers Tragett was a former English badminton player. She competed in the All England Championships from 1902 until 1933 and was the winner of eleven titles. She gained fifteen caps for England and was also editor of the 'Gazette' a popular badminton publication.

R J (Marian) Horsley was an English badminton player. She came to prominence whilst still at school and with a reputation as a fitness fanatic gained 24 England caps. She competed in the All England Championships winning two titles in 1929 and 1931. Twenty years later she won the Berks, Bucks and Oxon title four times, the last aged 60.

Ernest Edward Shedden Hawthorn (1878–1951) was an English International badminton player.

Violet Elton was an English badminton player. She started playing badminton in India at the age of seven. After joining a club playing at the Territorial Drill Hall in Kensington she started to come to prominence. She won five All England titles. She was capped nine times by England between 1924 and 1930. Elton died on March 4, 1969 in Sidmouth.

Frank Hodge was an English badminton player. After serving with distinction during the First World War he returned to playing badminton in 1919. A left handed player he was capped 18 times by England between 1919 and 1933. He won three All England titles. In 1934 he married Miss M Drake another member of the Alexandra Palace Badminton Club. He died in 1957.

Alan Titherley was an English badminton player. Born in 1903 he started to play badminton in the early 1920s and was soon selected by Cheshire. He was capped by England in the 1931/2 season and made 19 international appearances, the last in 1946/7. He competed in the All England Championships reaching three finals. He later won the All England Veterans doubles three times retiring unbeaten from the event in 1954. He died on 24 June 1963 at his home in Wallasey.

John Timperley was an English badminton & squash player. Born in 1931 he was capped by the England badminton team and reached the National number one ranking before switching to squash. During his squash career he played for Surrey and captained the Surrey over 45's. He became a coach and official, refereeing the British Open Squash Championships Final at Wembley. He was married to June Timperley née White a leading badminton player.

Pernille Mølgaard Hansen later Kaagaard is a former Danish badminton player. In 1964 she won both the National Championship and National Under-18 Championship and followed this up with five more National titles and 34 caps for Denmark from 1965-1977. She is best known for her All England title triumph in 1970 with her mixed doubles partner Per Walsøe.

Poul-Erik Nielsen is a former Danish badminton player. He was a doubles specialist winning three All England titles with partners Erland Kops, Finn Kobberø and Inge Birgit Hansen and reached five more finals. He has four National titles to his name and was capped 33 times by Denmark from 1954-1964. He is the elder brother of Knud Aage Nielsen another notable badminton player.

Poul Petersen is a former Danish badminton player. He was a Danish National Championship three times in the doubles with Per Walsøe and Svend Pri. In addition he won the Nordic Championship in 1972 and was capped by Denmark in the early 1970s. His greatest achievement was winning the 1970 All England Badminton Championships doubles title with Tom Bacher.

Stewart Marsden Massey (1877-1934), was a male badminton player from England, and a writer on the sport, penning the first book devoted solely to it.

Leonard Urban Ransford (1880-1954), was a male badminton player from England.
