Alex Martinez (also known by his Tag name SHINE) [1] [2] is a United States-born international artist who specializes in graffiti art. [3] He has worked as an illustrator and muralist in Greece [4] [5] and the UK. [6] [7] His uncle is the Mexican actor/dancer Adalberto Martinez. [8]

Career

Martinez is best known for his UK work in and around London's Notting Hill where he maintains a studio. [9] Martinez was commissioned by Madame Tussauds for the Tupac Shakur exhibition, in which he exhibited both Wildstyle and signature spray can techniques. [10] He attended the Meeting of Styles graffiti event in 2008. [11] Martinez has created community murals in W11. [12] [13] He curated the first two mobile graffiti exhibitions (Canvas and found Ply-board works) for the Portobello Film Festival. [14] His mural of Samuel Beckett, on Blenheim Crescent in London, has been used for book jackets and postcards. [15] Martinez spends much of his time working abroad. Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based street artist, political activist and film director whose real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation. Active since the 1990s, his satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls and bridges throughout the world. Banksy's work grew out of the Bristol underground scene, which involved collaborations between artists and musicians. Banksy says that he was inspired by 3D, a graffiti artist and founding member of the musical group Massive Attack.

Frestonia Former micronation in London

Frestonia was the name adopted by the residents of Freston Road, London, when they attempted to secede from the United Kingdom in 1977 to form the Free and Independent Republic of Frestonia. The residents were squatters, many of whom eventually set up a housing co-op in negotiation with Notting Hill Housing Trust, and included artists, musicians, writers, actors and activists. Actor David Rappaport was the Foreign Minister, while playwright Heathcote Williams served as Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is an anti-graffiti mural program in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, in the United States. The program was founded in 1986 under the direction of the local artist Jane Golden, as part of the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network, with the goal of facilitating collaboration between professional artists and prosecuted graffiti writers to create new murals in the city. It also works with community groups to educate and children in the arts and involve them in the creation of the murals. Madame Tussauds Hong Kong Wax museum in Hong Kong

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, is part of the renowned chain of wax museums founded by Marie Tussaud of France, is located at the Peak Tower on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It is the first Madame Tussauds museums in Asia, the other being the Shanghai branch, which opened in 2006 and the third branch at Bangkok which opened in 2010. The Hong Kong branch houses nearly 100 wax figures of internationally known personalities, with Asian figures taking up more than a third of the total, of which sixteen were Hong Kongers. The wax figures are featured in a range of themed settings such as Hong Kong Glamour, Music Icons, Historical and National Heroes, The Champions and World Premiere.

Ronald "Charlie" Phillips, also known by the nickname "Smokey", is a Jamaican-born restaurateur, photographer, and documenter of black London.
