Alexandria International University is national, non-profit Egyptian university that is part of Alexandria University, [1] The decision was issued to establish it by the Alexandria University Council on October 29, 2019. [2] It is located in the universities area in the new Borg El Arab city at Alexandria Governorate on an area of about 350 acres. The university will focus entirely on international programs and colleges and will become the international extension of the University of Alexandria. [3] Education at the university will be based on the system of special programs taught in a credit-hours method, and it is expected that the cost of establishing the branch will reach about five billion Egyptian pounds over ten years. [4]

It was founded and funded as the Egyptian University by a committee of private citizens with royal patronage in 1908 and became a state institution under King Fuad I in 1925. In 1940, four years following his death, the university was renamed King Fuad I University in his honor. It was renamed a second time after the 1952 Egyptian Revolution. The university currently enrolls approximately 155,000 students in 20 faculties and 3 institutions. It counts three Nobel Laureates among its graduates and is one of the 50 largest institutions of higher education in the world by enrollment.

It is the largest stadium in Egypt and the second largest in Africa with a capacity of 86,000 and is an all-seater. It is also the 9th largest association football stadium in the world. It is located on the Cairo-Alexandria desert highway 10 km from Borg El Arab Airport and 15 km from Alexandria's city center. A running track runs around the pitch, and the ground has four floodlights. Only one stand is covered by a roof.
