"Stay with Me Tonight" is a song by English synth-pop band the Human League, released in January 1996 by East West Records as a single from their second compilation album, Greatest Hits (1995). It was jointly written by Philip Oakey and producer Ian Stanley, features lead vocals by Oakey; with backing by co-vocalists Susan Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall. Post production by re-mixers 'Space Kittens'. No music video was prodoced for the single.
"What Time Is Love?" is a song released, in different mixes, as a series of singles by the British electronic music band the KLF. It featured prominently and repeatedly in their output from 1988 to 1992 and, under the moniker of 2K, in 1997. In its original form, the track was an instrumental electronic dance anthem; subsequent reworkings, with vocals and additional instrumentation, yielded the international hit singles "What Time Is Love? " (1990), and "America: What Time Is Love?" (1991), which respectively reached number five and number four on the UK Singles Chart, and introduced the KLF to a mainstream international audience.
12″ × 12 New Order Vinyl Campaign is the title of a series of 12-inch singles released by New Order in February 2006 through New State Recordings. The discs contain a mixture of both new and previously released remixes of past New Order songs. NSER017, which contains mixes of "Blue Monday", including the original 1983 version mislabelled as 'Original 88 Version', charted in the UK top 75.
"Random" is the first CD single from UK hip hop artist Lady Sovereign, following the release of her 12" vinyl single "Ch Ching " in 2004. It was her second and last single for Casual Records in 2005.
"Paninaro" is a song by English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, originally a B-side to the 1986 single "Suburbia". In 1995, a re-recording titled "Paninaro '95" was released to a wider market, to promote the duo's B-side compilation album Alternative, though only the original version was included on the compilation.
"Into the Blue" is a song by American electronica musician Moby, released on June 19, 1995 by Mute Records, as the fourth single from his third studio album, Everything Is Wrong (1995). American musician Mimi Goese co-wrote the lyrics with Moby and provided the vocals. The song is slow and melancholy, a stark contrast to the first four singles from the album.
"Feeling So Real" is a song by American electronica musician Moby, released on October 1994 by Mute and Elektra, as the second single from the musician's third studio album, Everything Is Wrong (1995). The song, both written and produced by Moby, features the phrases "sound system rocking my....." and "set it up DJ!" spoken by Kochie Banton, who also appears in Moby's following single, "Everytime You Touch Me". The guest vocalist for the song is Rozz Morehead. It peaked at number 30 on the UK Singles Chart, number nine on the US Billboard Dance Club Play chart, and number one on the Finnish Singles Chart. Julie Hermelin directed the song's accompanying music video.
Diana Extended: The Remixes is a remix album released by American soul singer Diana Ross in 1994. The album includes six tracks that were reworked by some of the biggest names in the industry at the time, covering Ross' career as a solo artist and as a member of The Supremes, with Frankie Knuckles updating "Someday We'll Be Together" from 1969. The album also contains a remix of "Chain Reaction", originally released during Ross' time at RCA. The seventh track is "You're Gonna Love It", a track from the album The Force Behind the Power. The version on Diana Extended: The Remixes is a short remix available previously on a 12" single.
"Move (You Make Me Feel So Good)" is a song by American electronica musician Moby, with a chorus sampling from Loleatta Holloway's 1980 song "Love Sensation". It was first released as the title track on Moby's extended play Move, which was issued on August 31, 1993, as his first release on Mute Records in the United Kingdom and on Elektra Records in the United States. It hit number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and number 21 on the UK Singles Chart.
"Hymn" is a song by American electronica musician Moby. It was released on May 1994 by Mute Records as the first single from the musician's third studio album, Everything Is Wrong (1995). The single version, which was radically remixed from the album original and retitled "Hymn ", peaked at number 31 on the UK Singles Chart and number three in Finland. A 33-minute ambient remix was also released, titled as "Hymn.Alt.Quiet.Version". The accompanying music video for "Hymn" was directed by English director Walter Stern, featuring Moby performing with silver bodypaint.
"Step It Up" is a song by British hip hop and electronic dance group Stereo MC's, released in November 1992 by 4th & Broadway as the second single from their third album, Connected (1992). It was written by Nick Hallam and Rob Birch, charting higher than both the band's previous single "Connected" and their next single "Ground Level". The single peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart, number 13 in New Zealand, and number 87 in Australia. It appeared in the 1993 comedy film Wayne's World 2 and was also included on the 1996 compilation album The Beautiful Game.
"Change" is a song by English post-punk band Killing Joke that appeared on the US release of their 1980 self-titled debut album. The song bears a resemblance to the War song "Me and Baby Brother", which Killing Joke have acknowledged. DFA Records cofounder Tim Goldsworthy stated that the song was the key inspiration to the composition of his record label artist James Murphy on LCD Soundsystem's debut single "Losing My Edge".
"The People Want to Dance" is a single from former Frankie Goes to Hollywood singer Holly Johnson, taken as the third and final single from his 1991 album Dreams That Money Can't Buy. The track would be Johnson's last release until 1994.
"Strange World" is a song by American singer Ké and the lead single from the debut album I am [ ]. It was produced by Rick Neigher and Ké and written by Ké and Michael Prendergast. The song was released in 1995 by RCA Records and became a smash hit in Europe that year, topping the airplay charts in countries such as Italy and Germany. A dance remix of the track by Junior Vasquez topped the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart in 1996. The single sold around 3 million copies worldwide. Finnish band HIM released a cover of the song for their 2012 compilation album XX - Two Decades of Love Metal. In 2016, Ké appeared on a version of "Strange World" by Italian band Matmata.
"Generations of Love" is a song by British band Jesus Loves You, founded by singer Boy George, and was released as the second single from their only album, The Martyr Mantras (1990). The song also features raggamuffin toaster MC Kinky and received favorable reviews from most music critics; both Melody Maker and NME named it Single of the Week. It made the UK Singles Chart in two versions; the "Land of Oz Mix" which peaked at number 80 in 1990 and the "La La Gone Gaga Mix" which peaked at number 35 in 1991. The 1990 version also peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, while the 1991 version peaked within the top 20 in the Netherlands and the top 30 in Austria and Belgium. Its music video was directed by Baillie Walsh.
"Anthem" is a song by British electronic music group N-Joi, released by Deconstruction, Logic and RCA as a single from their album Music from a State of Mind (1990). The piano-driven track, which also served as part of their 1989 debut EP, has gone on to become one of the most famous signature songs in the act's career, as well as seeing it chart numerous times since its 1990 release.
"You Make Me Feel So Good" is the third single released by the American synth-pop band Book of Love. The song was included on the band's eponymous debut album Book of Love in 1986. The song was written by band members Susan Ottaviano and Ted Ottaviano.
"Lifted by Love" is a song performed by Canadian singer-songwriter k.d. lang, co-written with Ben Mink. It was featured in the 1993 film Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, as well as the soundtrack album. It was the first of two number one singles on the US dance chart for lang, remaining on the chart for a total of thirteen weeks.
Speedy was a five-piece Indie Pop/Britpop band from Sheffield, England, whose songs were known for their witty lyrics, often observing the darker and seedier side of working class life; "kitchen sink narratives" in the words of founder and lead singer Philip Watson. Their debut single on a major label Boy Wonder reached No. 56 in the UK Singles Chart in late 1996, but further chart success eluded them.
"Another Lover" is the second solo single by English singer Dane Bowers from his debut album, Facing the Crowd (2001). Like his previous single, the song also peaked at No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart in July 2001. It was to be his last single with Arista before being dropped by the label. Bowers would release one more single nine years later titled "All She Needs" on the Conehead UK label which failed to chart.
