Ambia is an unincorporated community in Lamar County, in the U.S. state of Texas. [1]
A post office was established at Ambia in 1886, and remained in operation until 1905. [2] The community derives its name from "amber", alluding to the color of the chewing tobacco used by the local men. [3]

Lamar County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas, in the Northeast Texas region. As of the 2020 census, its population was 50,088. Its county seat is Paris. The county was formed by the Congress of the Republic of Texas on December 17, 1840, and organized the next year. It is named for Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second president of the Republic of Texas. Lamar County comprises the Paris, TX micropolitan statistical area.

Golam Ambia is a former Bangladeshi sprinter who competed in the men's 100m competition at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He recorded an 11.06, not enough to qualify for the next round past the heats. His personal best is 10.40, set in 1991. He was also on Bangladesh's 4 × 100 m team, which posted a 42.18, for 5th in its heat.
Amanda Junquera Butler was a Spanish writer. Raised in Madrid, she attended university during the Spanish Civil War at the University of Valencia. Junquera was a noted translator, chronicler, and short story writer in the mid-20th century, whose works and impact received new interest in the 21st century with republishing of some of her works and scholarship on her life.
