Esteghlal Football Club (Persian: باشگاه فوتبال استقلال;, commonly known as Esteghlal, is an Iranian football club based in Tehran that competes in the Persian Gulf Pro League. The club was founded in 1945 as 'The Cyclists' and was known as Tâj between 1949 and 1979. The club is part of the multisport club Esteghlal Athletic and Cultural Company of Iran. They were the first team to reach 1,000 points in Persian Gulf Pro League.
Amir Kabir Publishers is a publishing house based in Tehran, Iran and founded on November 19, 1949, by Abdorrahim "Taghi" Jafari. It is named after Mirza Taghi Khan Amirkabir (1807–1852), who was chief minister during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar.

Komeil Ghasemi is a retired Iranian wrestler who won a gold medal in the men's freestyle 120 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Ghasemi was awarded his Olympic gold medal after the two wrestlers ahead of him failed drug tests. Ghasemi is the most successful Iranian heavyweight wrestler at the Olympic Games.
Hassan Pakandam was a member of Iran senior national Boxing team from 1955, continuously until 1965, and a member of Tehran Taj Boxing Club from 1950 to 1965, boxing in the 60, 63.5, and 67 kg divisions. He was a well-built, skilled, swift, and intelligent all-around boxer. His recognized punch was a powerful cross. He participated at the 1958 Asian Games, and also as team captain at the 1964 Summer Olympics, in the Lightweight division and was also selected for the Lightweight division of the Iranian national boxing team, to participate in the 1962 Asian Games.
Ezaria Ilkhanoff also known as Ezrael Illkhanouf, was an Assyrian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1955, and also a member of Tehran Taj Club, boxing in the 51 kg division. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Flyweight division, and also at the 1960 Summer Olympics, in the Flyweight division, and was also selected for the Flyweight division of the Iranian national boxing team, to participate in the 1962 Asian Games. In Tokyo 1958, Ilkhanoff won the bronze medal of the 51 kg boxing division, after losing on points to Hla Nyunt from Burma, in the semifinal.
Sadegh Aliakbarzadeh Khoi, was an Iranian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1957, and was also a member of Tehran Jafari Club, boxing in the 54 and 57 kg divisions. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Featherweight division, and also at the 1960 Summer Olympics, and the 1964 Summer Olympics, in the Bantamweight division, and was also selected for the Bantamweight division of the Iranian national boxing team, to participate in the 1962 Asian Games. In Tokyo 1958, Aliakbarzadeh obtained the fifth place of the 57 kg boxing division, after losing on points to Isami Ikeyama, from Japan, the eventual gold medal winner of the division, in the quarterfinal.
Soren Pirjanian also spelled Souren Pirjanian was an Iranian Armenian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1955, and was also a member of Tehran Taj Club. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Welterweight division. In Tokyo 1958, Pirjanian reached the final of the Welterweight division after defeating both Norberto David from the Philippines, and Toshiro Onuki from Japan, on points, and eventually won the silver medal of the 67 kg boxing division, after losing on points to Kim Ki-soo from South Korea in the final. He retired from championship boxing and the Iranian national boxing team, after returning from the 1958 Asian Games.
Leon Khachatourian is an Iranian Armenian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1957, and was also a member of Tehran Taj Club. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Middleweight division. In Tokyo 1958, Khachatourian lost on points to Singh from India, in the semifinal, and won the bronze medal of the 75 kg boxing division. He retired from championship boxing and the Iranian national boxing team, after returning from the 1958 Asian Games.
Vazik Kazarian aka Vazik Ghazarian was an Iranian Armenian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1956, and was also a member of Tehran Taj Club. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Light-welterweight division, and also at the 1960 Summer Olympics, in the Light-welterweight division. In Tokyo 1958, Kazarian reached the final of the Light-welterweight division after defeating Sueb Chundakowsolaya from Thailand, on points in the semifinal, and eventually won the silver medal of the 63.5 kg boxing division, after losing on points to Shigemasa Kawakami from Japan in the final. He retired from championship boxing and the Iranian national boxing team, after returning from the 1960 Summer Olympics.
Nasser Aghaie was an Iranian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1963. He participated as a member of this team at the first Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand in 1963, and at the 1964 Summer Olympics, in the Flyweight division, and at 1966 Asian Games, in the Featherweight division, and also at the third Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Colombo, Ceylon in 1967.
Akbar Khojini, was an Iranian boxer who became a member of Iran senior national Boxing team in 1956, and was also a member of Tehran Jafari Club, boxing in the 81 kg division. He participated as a member of the Iranian boxers at the 1958 Asian Games, in the Light Heavyweight division, and also at the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand in 1963, in which he won the silver medal of the 81 kg boxing division, after losing to Ali Barkat from Pakistan, in the final. Khojini was also selected for the Light Heavyweight division of the Iranian national boxing team, to participate in the 1962 Asian Games. In Tokyo 1958, Khojini lost to Sultan Mahmoud from Pakistan, in the quarterfinal, and won the bronze medal of the 81 kg boxing division. Khojini retired from championship boxing and the Iranian national boxing team, after returning from the 1963 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok.
Iran competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place during the summer of 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation's debut in 1948, Iranian athletes have attended every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1980 and 1984 which they boycotted.
Amir Hossein Zare is an Iranian freestyle wrestler who currently competes in the heavyweight division. Zare became World Champion in 2021, and 2023. He was the 2019 U23 World Champion at age 18. He claimed a Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medal in 2021. In the age-group, he was the 2018 Cadet World Champion and claimed silver medals from the 2019 Junior World Championships and the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics.
