Amitabh Bachchan Corporation (formerly Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited ABCL) or AB CORP is an Indian entertainment company which is owned by Amitabh Bachchan. It was founded in 1995, it did event-management, film production and distribution work. During 1999 it emerged as fiasco for Bachchan when it went into bankruptcy bringing heavy financial losses to its owner. [2] The company organised the Miss World 1996 competition.

Controversies

The company specialized in film production and event management. The business was plagued by financial difficulties. The main reason for the bad performance of ABCL was blamed on the gross mismanagement of the company by the, then CEO, Sanjiv Gupta, who went on to become the CEO of Coca-Cola India. [3] [4]

The company burst into the limelight in 1997 when it was responsible for bringing to India the Miss World Pageant, but was then mired with controversy when the company was not able to pay its dues. [5] [6]

TV show

Dekh Bhai Dekh a Hindi sitcom was directed by Anand Mahendru, produced by Jaya Bachchan (via ABCL) and starring Sushma Seth, Navin Nischol, Amar Upadhyay and Shekhar Suman in lead roles.

This film was produced by his own production company called Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL). It marked Bachchan's comeback after five years but was a box-office bomb. One of the songs in the film picturized on Amitabh and Daler Mehndi was very popular when released.

It began with actor Amitabh Bachchan as presenter. The actor Shah Rukh Khan replaced Bachchan for the third season, after which Bachchan returned as the presenter. The programme aired on Star Plus for its first three seasons from 2000 to 2007, and was commissioned by the programming team of Sameer Nair. In 2010, it started airing on Sony Entertainment Television and was produced by BIG Synergy from season 1 till season 10. Afterwards, the credited production companies co-producing are Studio NEXT since season 10 and Tree of Knowledge since season 11 respectively.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Ronit Roy, and Lloyd Owen. Set during the period of Company rule in India, the film follows a small-time thug from Awadh, Firangi Mallah, who is sent by an East India Company official to infiltrate and counter a band of thugs.

Badla (transl.Revenge) is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller film directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Tony Luke and Amrita Singh. The film is produced by Universal Entertainment, Red Chillies Entertainment and Azure Entertainment and is a remake of the 2016 Spanish film The Invisible Guest.
