Andrew John Callard (born 4 January 1968 in Dartford) is a British male weightlifter.
Callard competed in the light-heavyweight and sub-heavyweight categories and represented Great Britain and England at international competitions. He participated at the 1992 Summer Olympics in the 82.5 kg event. [1] He competed at world championships, most recently at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships. [2]
He represented England and won a bronze medal in the 82.5 kg light-heavyweight division, at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand. Four years later he won two silver medals in the 99 kg sub-heavyweight division, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and two gold medals at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, the double medal count at each Games was courtesy of an unusual period when three medals were awarded in one category (clean and jerk, snatch and combined) which invariably led to the same athlete winning all three of the same colour medal. Yuri Norayrovich Vardanyan was a Soviet Armenian weightlifter. Vardanyan won a gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics, becoming the world's first weightlifter to achieve a 400 kilogram total in the 82.5 kg weight category. During his career he set several world records. He trained at Lokomotiv in Leninakan, Armenia. He earned the title Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR in 1977 and was awarded the Order of Lenin in 1985. In 1994 he was elected a member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame.
Stefan Khristov Botev is an Olympic weightlifter who represented Bulgaria and later for Australia. He was coached by Ivan Abadzhiev.
Nauru competed in the Olympic Games for the first time at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States from 19 July to 4 August 1996. The delegation consisted of three weightlifters; Quincy Detenamo, Gerard Garabwan, and Marcus Stephen. Their best performances were by Detenamo, who came 20th in the men's 76 kg category and Garabwan who finished 24th in the men's 91 kg event. Stephen failed to finish his event, but would later become President of the Republic.
Asen Zlatev is a former Bulgarian weightlifter. Zlatev is an Olympic champion from the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games in Russia, in the category of up to 75 kg. At the age of 11 he joined the first group of weight lifting trainees in the Vasil Levski Sports School under the leadership of Gancho Karushkov. Zlatev has won three gold medals at World Championships and five at European Championships. From World Championships he has 7 medals, and from European Championships – 8 medals. He is ranked second with the number of medals won in total and leads the ranking among Bulgarians by the number of medals won in Olympic Games, World Championships and European Championships in snatch, clean and jerk and total – 22 gold, 19 silver, 4 bronze. For seven years Zlatev improved 20 world and 6 Olympic records. He is one of the three Bulgarians who has not received a "zero" in an official competition. Zlatev was awarded the Golden Kilo award for best achievement at the World Championships in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1982. He was captain of the national team for 8 years and did not lost national competition for 13 seasons. He competed in the categories up to 75 kg and up to 82.5 kg and was trained for several Olympic Games, but for various reasons he participated only in one – in Moscow, Russia. From September 1989 until the end of 1994 Zlatev competed for the German teams Limen and Chemnitz. Asen Zlatev was declared honorary citizen of Plovdiv in 2001. He was elected Athlete of the Year for Bulgaria in 1986.

Zoe Smith is an English weightlifter. In October 2010 she won a bronze medal in the women's 58kg division at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, her first senior international competition, to become the first English woman to win a Commonwealth Games weightlifting medal. Smith competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and finished 12th in the Women's 58kg division. After missing the 2016 Summer Olympics following an injury, she finished eighth in the 59kg at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

He has also competed at the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships in the 94 kg class and the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships in the 105 kg class. His coach is Andrew Callard.
