Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks –a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Founded in 1878,Northamptonshire (Northants) held minor status at first but was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship during the 1890s. In 1905,the club joined the County Championship and was elevated to first-class status,since when the team have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England.

Andrew Balbirnie is an Irish cricketer,the current captain of the Ireland cricket team in Test cricket. Balbirnie is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper. He was born in Dublin and was educated at St. Andrew's College. He was one of the 11 cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match,against Pakistan,in May 2018. In December 2018,he was one of 19 players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season.
Yuzvendra Chahal is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian cricket team in white ball cricket as a leg spin bowler. He also plays for Haryana in domestic cricket and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He is a right-arm leg break bowler. Chahal was the second player and first Indian to take a 6 wicket haul in T20I history. He was the first concussion substitute to be named man of the match in an international cricket match. He is a former chess player and represented India internationally in chess. He was a part of the Indian team which won the 2024 T20 World Cup,however he did not feature in any of the matches during the tournament.
Thomas Kevin Curran,is an English cricketer who represents England in Test matches,One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. He plays for Surrey County Cricket Club in English domestic cricket. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowling all-rounder. He made his international debut for England in June 2017. He is the son of former Zimbabwe international cricketer Kevin Curran,and the brother of both Northamptonshire CCC batsman Ben Curran and England and Surrey all-rounder Sam Curran.
Rohan Mustafa is a Pakistani-born cricketer who has played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team since 2007. He is a former national captain,and plays as a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler.
