Angela Marie "Angie" Akers (née Harris; born June 30, 1976) [1] is a retired professional beach volleyball player from the United States who played on the AVP Tour. [2] Akers was named the AVP Rookie of the Year in 2002.
Akers was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and attended Bishop Luers High School.
Akers played NCAA indoor volleyball for the University of Notre Dame and is the school's all-time career ace and kills leader. [3] After graduating with a BA in Sociology, Akers played professional volleyball in Switzerland for three months. Upon returning home, she decided to give up volleyball and pursue a running career. Her highest accomplishment in running was finishing the 2001 Boston Marathon in 3 hours, 23 minutes.
Akers began her career in beach volleyball in 2002 after moving to Southern California from San Francisco, where she had been working at Lehman Brothers. [4] Since then, Akers has earned $252,127 in prize money and has consistently finished in the top ten in individual and team categories. In July 2007 with Brooke Hanson as her partner, the pair represented the U.S. at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and finished fifth. [3] In 2009 with Tyra Turner as her partner, the duo finished 5th at the FIVB World Championships in Stavanger, Norway. [3]

Kerri Lee Walsh Jennings is an American professional beach volleyball player, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and a one-time Olympic bronze medalist. She is the beach volleyball leader in career victories as of 2016 having won 135 international and domestic tournaments.
Misty Elizabeth May-Treanor is an American retired professional beach volleyball player. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist, and as of August 2012, was the most successful female beach volleyball player having won 112 tournaments in domestic and international competition.
Holly McPeak is an American retired indoor and beach volleyball player. McPeak was three-times an Olympian in beach volleyball. In the professional circuit, she garnered 72 career beach volleyball titles, with career earnings of US$1.4 million. She is ranked third in titles won and second in career earnings for female professional beach volleyball players. She won a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics with partner Elaine Youngs. Though McPeak was considered short for a beach volleyball player at 5 feet 7 inches in height, she was one of the toughest players to beat on the tour.
Elaine Youngs is an American former professional volleyball player who competed both indoors and on the beach.
Rachel Scott is a model and former American professional beach volleyball player who won eight beach volleyball championships with three partners. Scott was named Best Defensive Player 2005 and Most Improved Player on the AVP Tour in 2005. By 2009, she had played in 168 beach volleyball events, 121 domestically and 47 internationally, and earned eight victories, 22 runner-up performances, and won over $750,000 in prize money.
Todd Jonathan Rogers is an American professional beach volleyball player who is an Olympic and FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship gold medalist. He and his former partner, Phil Dalhausser, were the 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 AVP Tour champions.
Jennifer "Jen" Anne Kessy is a retired American professional beach volleyball player on the AVP Tour. She currently is the coach of April Ross and Alix Klineman.
Dax Holdren is an American former professional beach volleyball player. Holdren played on the AVP tour with Jeff Nygaard just before his retirement.

April Elizabeth Ross is an American beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic medalist. Sara Elizabeth Hughes is an American beach volleyball player. With teammate Kelly Cheng she achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in August 2023. Hughes has won six tournaments on the AVP Pro Tour and seven gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals on the FIVB World Tour/Pro Beach Tour.
Sarah Straton is a former professional beach volleyball player who represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. She is married to Greg Noyes, has a son and a daughter and lives in Redondo Beach, California.
Sarah Marie Sponcil is an American volleyball player for the Grand Rapids Rise of the Pro Volleyball Federation, best known for her beach volleyball career. Sarah competed for the USA Volleyball Beach National Team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Sarah and partner Kelly Claes tied for 9th in their debut Olympics. At 24 and 25, Sponcil and Claes, respectively, were the youngest beach volleyball team to represent the USA since its inception as an Olympic sport in 1996.
Geena St. Claire Urango is an American professional beach volleyball player and former indoor volleyball player.
