Apart Together is the debut studio album by Australian musician Tim Minchin. It was released on 20 November 2020.
Following his career in musical comedy, Minchin semi-retired from touring after his 2010/11 international arena tour Tim Minchin and the Heritage Orchestra and writing the music and lyrics for the Royal Shakespeare Company's award-winning Matilda the Musical to focus on other projects such as appearing in acting roles as Atticus Fetch in the US series Californication and Judas in the 2012/13 arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar . At this time, Minchin moved with his family to Los Angeles to write and direct an animated movie for DreamWorks Animation called Larrikins, which was cancelled in March 2017 after four years of work. His second stage musical Groundhog Day had also closed after running for six months on Broadway.
After moving to back to Australia, Minchin revealed he was working on an album and visited Australia, New Zealand and the UK for the first time in eight years on the BACK: Old Songs, New Songs, Fuck You Songs tour in 2019/20.
In March 2020, it was revealed that Minchin signed a record deal with BMG and would release Apart Together, his debut studio album (after previously releasing numerous live albums of his musical comedy shows), on 20 November 2020. [6] The album contains four songs played on the BACK tour; "If This Plane Goes Down", "Leaving LA", "I'll Take Lonely Tonight" and "Carry You", which was written for the TV series Upright that Minchin starred in, co-wrote, and co-directed.
On 13 March 2020, "Leaving LA" was released as a single with the animated music video by Tee Ken Ng using zoetropes. [7] "I'll Take Lonely Tonight" was released on 18 June 2020, [8] with "Apart Together" on 13 August 2020, [9] and "Airport Piano" on 25 September 2020. [10] The final single from the album, "The Absence of You", was released on 30 October 2020, alongside a one-shot music video.

On 19 November 2020, a pre-recorded concert of the album was released online worldwide for 48 hours during the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert was filmed at the Trackdown Studios in Sydney. This was again released on YouTube on 16 November 2023. [14]
On 20 and 21 February 2021, Minchin performed the album with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Jessica Gethin) at the Kings Park and Botanic Garden, in Perth, Western Australia as part of the Perth Festival. The concert also ended with "When I Grow Up" (from Matilda) and "White Wine in the Sun" performed as encores.
Crowded House are a New Zealand-Australian rock band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1985. Its founding members were New Zealander Neil Finn and Australians Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). Later band members included Finn's brother Tim, who was in their former band Split Enz; sons Liam and Elroy; as well as Americans Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod. Neil Finn and Seymour are the sole constant members.
INXS were an Australian rock band, formed as the Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney. The founding members were bassist Garry Gary Beers, main composer and keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead singer and main lyricist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. For 20 years, INXS was fronted by Hutchence, whose magnetic stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their new wave/pop style, the band later developed a harder pub rock style that included funk and dance elements.
Eurythmics were a British pop duo formed in 1980, consisting of Scottish vocalist Annie Lennox and English musician and producer Dave Stewart. They were both previously in the Tourists, a band that broke up in 1980. They released their first studio album, In the Garden, in 1981 to little success, but achieved global acclaim with their second album, Sweet Dreams (1983). The title track became a worldwide hit, reaching number two in the UK Singles Chart, and number one in Canada and the US Billboard Hot 100. Kick is the sixth studio album by Australian rock band INXS, released on 19 October 1987 through WEA in Australia, Mercury Records in Europe, and Atlantic Records in the United States and Canada. The album was produced by British producer Chris Thomas, recorded by David Nicholas in Sydney and Paris and mixed by Bob Clearmountain at AIR Studios in London.

2 Years On is the eighth studio album by the Bee Gees, which reached No. 32 on the US charts. Released in 1970, the album saw the return of Robin Gibb to the group after an earlier disagreement and subsequent split following Odessa. 2 Years On was the first album with drummer Geoff Bridgford, who remained a full-time member of the group until 1972 although he was not pictured on the sleeve. The best-known track is "Lonely Days". Released as the first single by the reunited brothers, it charted high in the US, but only reached No. 33 in the United Kingdom.

The song was written by Andrew Farriss, Michael Hutchence and Tim Farriss as part of the first sessions for Kick. Cub Sport are an Australian pop group formed in Brisbane in early 2010. Founding mainstays are Zoe Davis on keyboards, bass guitar, lead guitar and vocals, Tim Nelson on lead vocals and keyboards, Sam "Bolan" Netterfield on keyboards and vocals, and Dan Puusaari on drums. They have released five studio albums, This Is Our Vice (2016), Bats (2017), Cub Sport (2019), Like Nirvana (2020) and Jesus at the Gay Bar (2023). Jesus at the Gay Bar peaked at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, Like Nirvana reached number two and Cub Sport appeared at number twelve. Nelson and Netterfield married in August 2018.
Void Of Vision are an Australian metalcore band from Melbourne, formed in 2013. The band consisted of vocalist Jack Bergin, guitarists James McKendrick and Mitch Fairlie and drummer George Pfaendner. Void of Vision have released four studio albums: Children of Chrome (2016), Hyperdaze (2019), Chronicles (2023), and What I'll Leave Behind (2024).
