Phylogeny

The currently accepted taxonomy is based on the List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature [2] and the phylogeny is based on whole-genome sequences, [1] except for the recently described A. nanyangensis , which has been added based on a 16S rRNA gene phylogeny by the GGDC web server. [4]

The Lactobacillaceae are a family of lactic acid bacteria. It is the only family in the lactic acid bacteria which includes homofermentative and heterofermentative organisms; in the Lactobacillaceae, the pathway used for hexose fermentation is a genus-specific trait. Companilactobacillus kimchii is a bacteriocin-producing lactic acid bacterium of the genus Companilactobacillus. It is named for and found in the Korean fermented-vegetable food kimchi.
