Archery at the 2020 Summer Paralympics was held at Dream Island Archery Park in Tokyo Bay Zone [1] It consisted of 9 events (3 men, 3 women, 3 mixed teams). It was expected that there would be 140 archer slots in the qualifying rounds to the countdown of the Games.

The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. [2] [3]

Archery at the Summer Olympics

Archery had its debut at the 1900 Summer Olympics and has been contested in 16 Olympiads. Eighty-four nations have competed in the Olympic archery events, with France appearing the most often at 31 times. The most noticeable trend has been the excellence of South Korean archers, who have won 27 out of 39 gold medals in events since 1984. It is governed by the World Archery Federation. Zahra Nemati Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer (born 1985)

Zahra Nemati is an Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer. She originally competed in taekwondo before she was paralyzed in a car accident. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics she won two medals, an individual gold and team bronze. She has qualified to compete at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She was the flag bearer at the 2016 Olympics and the postponed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo where she shared the honour with thrower Nourmohammad Arekhi.

The archery events at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place in Yumenoshima Park. Five events were planned with a mixed team event staged for the first time.

Areneo David is a Malawian competitive archer. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, David etched a historic mark for Malawi as the first ever archer to compete in an Olympic tournament, shooting only in the men's individual recurve through a tripartite invitation. For the 72-arrow qualifying round, David discharged 603 points out of a possible 720 to take the sixty-second spot from a field of 64 archers, before he faced his initial challenge against the third-seeded Italian archer David Pasqualucci, which led to his abrupt departure from the tournament at 0–6.

Karma is a Bhutanese recurve archer from Trashiyangtse in eastern Bhutan and lives at Thimphu also in Bhutan.

Lucilla Boari is an Italian recurve archer who has represented Italy at the 2016 Summer Olympics and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She has additionally competed for her country at the 2018 Mediterranean Games and the 2019 European Games, in which she won an individual gold and silver medal respectively.
