Armenia selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 entry by a national final with two quarter-finals, one semi-final and a final. The winner was Monika Manchuarova with "Im Ergy Hnchyune", which represented Armenia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 on 22 November 2008. [1]

Before Junior Eurovision

National final

A submission period for artists was held until 5 May 2008. 200 applications were received, and 36 entries were chosen for the national final.

Quarter-final 1

The first quarter-final was held on 30 June 2008, hosted by Felix and Emmy. Eighteen songs competed and an "expert" jury chose 10 songs to qualify for the semi-final.

Final

The final was held on 11 July 2008, hosted by Felix and Emmy. The ten songs which qualified from the two quarter-finals competed and the winner was chosen by a combination of televoting and the votes from an "expert" jury.

At Junior Eurovision

Since the song was performed in the national final, the lyrics have been changed, as well as the melody. The song title was changed from "Im Ergy Hnchuny" to "Im Ergy Hnchyune". [1] Armenia was drawn to perform in spot two. As well as the singer on stage, like in the national final, there were two dancers and two backing singers; one of them was the songwriter. The animation on the screen behind them also appeared in the preview video. The song placed in the 8th position with 59 points, which were received from Belgium, Netherlands, Cyprus, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria and Georgia. [3]

"Qélé, Qélé" was selected as the winning song after gaining 86.5% of the public televote.

Bulgaria and BNT chose Deep Zone & DJ Balthazar with "DJ, Take Me Away" to go to the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. They failed to qualify for the final coming in 11th in the semi-final

The Netherlands selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry for 2008 through Junior Songfestival 2008, a national final consisting of 10 songs spread out into two semi-finals and a final. The final winner was Marissa with the song "1 Dag".

Belgium chose their Junior Eurovision entry for 2008 through Junior Eurosong, a national final consisting of 10 songs split into two quarter-finals, a semi-final and a grand final. The winner of Junior Eurosong was Oliver Symons, with the song "Shut Up!".

Malta selected their Junior Eurovision entry for 2008 through Junior Eurosong, a national final consisting of 16 songs. The winner was Daniel Testa, with the song "Junior Swing".

In May 2012, Armenia announced that they would be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their withdrawal in 2012 due to tensions with then host country Azerbaijan. The Maltese entry for the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria was selected through the national final Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015, organised by the Maltese broadcaster Public Broadcasting Services (PBS). The song was performed by Iveta Mukuchyan, who was selected internally by the Armenian broadcaster Public Television of Armenia (AMPTV) to represent Armenia in the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Mukuchyan's selection as the Armenian artist was announced on 13 October 2015, while the song "LoveWave" was later presented to the public on 2 March 2016.

Armenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Fly with Me" written by Lilith Navasardyan, Levon Navasardyan, Avet Barseghyan and David Tserunyan. The song was performed by Artsvik, who was selected through the national final Depi Evratesil organised by the Armenian broadcaster Public Television of Armenia (AMPTV) to represent Armenia in the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. The national final involved 75 contestants and took place over three months. Two contestants ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 24 December 2016 where a jury panel and a public televote selected Artsvik as the winner. The song "Fly with Me" was selected internally and later presented to the public on 18 March 2017.

Sweden participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) organised the national final Melodifestivalen 2018 in order to select the Swedish entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. After a six-week-long competition consisting of four semi-finals, a Second Chance round and a final, "Dance You Off" performed by Benjamin Ingrosso emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from eleven international jury groups and a public vote.

The Ukrainian broadcaster National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC) organised a national final in collaboration with commercial broadcaster STB in order to select the Ukrainian entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. The national selection consisted of two semi-finals, held on 10 and 17 February 2018, and a final, held on 24 February 2018; nine entries competed in each semi-final with the top three from each semi-final advancing to the final. In the final, "Under the Ladder" performed by Mélovin was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a three-member jury panel and a public televote.
