Arroyo High School, located in El Monte, California, United States, is a school in the El Monte Union High School District. The attendance area served by Arroyo High School consists of four different communities: El Monte, Temple City, Arcadia, and an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

History

Arroyo High School opened its doors in 1955 and its first graduating class was the class of 1958. [2]

Athletics

Arroyo's main rival is Rosemead High School. [3]

In 1987, Arroyo won the California State Division I Boys Cross-Country championship. [4]

In 2016, Arroyo's football program won its second CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) - Southern Section championship in Division 12.

In 2019, Arroyo’s Varsity girls' cross country team qualified for state for the first time in school history.

In 2019, Arroyo's baseball program won its first CIF championship against Marshall High School in Division 7.

The school colors are Columbia Blue, black, and white.

Academics

Ocean View High School (OVHS) is a public comprehensive college-prep academy located in Huntington Beach, California. OVHS was established in 1976; their mascot is the Seahawks. Currently, there are approximately 1,470 enrolled students. It is part of the HBUHSD school district, with five other high schools. The school is unique in that it features the only IB Program in the district. The implementation of “embedded tutorial” at the end of each period two years ago resulted in the biggest drop in the total number of D and F grades for students in the district. It features a business academy that has 170 participants, the sole Mandarin Chinese foreign language program in the district, and a college preparation curriculum. The El Monte Union High School District (EMUHSD) is a public high school district headquartered in El Monte, California. The district employs 623 certificated employees and 625 classified employees. The professional staff provides educational programs for over 10,000 students in grades 9 through 12. It serves the cities of El Monte, South El Monte, the unincorporated community of North El Monte, the northern portion of Rosemead, and the southeastern portion of Temple City.
