Arthropeina is a fly genus in the family Xylomyidae, the "wood soldier flies". [2]
The soldier flies are a family of flies. The family contains over 2,700 species in over 380 extant genera worldwide. Adults are found near larval habitats, which are found in a wide array of locations, mostly in wetlands, damp places in soil, sod, under bark, in animal excrement, and in decaying organic matter. The Stratiomyinae are a different subgroup that tends to have an affinity to aquatic environments. They are diverse in size and shape, though they commonly are partly or wholly metallic green, or somewhat wasplike mimics, marked with black and yellow or green and sometimes metallic. They are often rather inactive flies which typically rest with their wings placed one above the other over the abdomen.
Chrysopilus is common, worldwide genus of predatory snipe flies. There are approximately 300 species in the genus, including fossil members that are sometimes found in amber.
Xylomyidae is a family of flies known commonly as the wood soldier flies. They are xylophagous and are associated with dead or dying wood.

Apsilocephalidae is a family of flies in the superfamily Asiloidea. It was historically treated as a subfamily within Therevidae, but placed in a separate family in 1991, and subsequently recognized as more distantly related. The family contains three extant genera and at least five extinct genera described from the fossil record.
Christian Wolfgang Lindner is a German politician of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) serving as the Federal Minister of Finance since 8 December 2021. The Canthyloscelidae are a small family of midges closely related to the Scatopsidae.
The Diadocidiidae are a family of flies (Diptera), containing one extant genus with over 20 species and one extinct genus. Diadocidiidae are found worldwide, except in Africa and Antarctica. They are usually considered close to the Keroplatidae, Bolitophilidae, and Ditomyiidae, and used to be included in the Mycetophilidae. They are woodland flies, found in shaded places in forests or near streams. The larvae spin silken tubes under bark or in dead logs, and feed on hymenium of Polyporaceae fungi. The average body length for adults is around 2.5–5.6 mm.
Austroleptis is a genus of snipe flies, and the sole genus in the family Austroleptidae; until 2010, it was placed in the family Rhagionidae. They are small to moderately sized flies of around 3 to 7.7 mm.
Ana Eduarda Idalina "Duda" Amorim Taleska is a Brazilian handball player for CSM București.
Pachygastrinae is a subfamily of flies in the family Stratiomyidae.
Hermetia is a genus of flies of the family Stratiomyidae.
Anablepsoides is a genus of killifish in the family Rivulidae native to tropical South America and the Lesser Antilles. The majority are from the Amazon and Orinoco basins, as well as freshwater systems in the Guiana Shield, but a few species are from northern Venezuela, northeastern Brazil and the Lesser Antilles. Although largely restricted to lowlands, a few species occur in the lower East Andean foothills. They are mostly found in shallow fresh water swamps, streams, edges of rivers, ponds and pools, but a few may occur in brackish estuaries. They are able to jump over land and breathe air for short periods, allowing them to access isolated waters inhabited by few or no other fish. Several Anablepsoides species have small distributions and some are seriously threatened by habitat loss; the entire known range of A. xinguensis is in the area flooded by the Belo Monte Dam.
Solva is a fly genus in the family Xylomyidae, the "wood soldier flies".
Euparyphus is a genus of flies in the tribe Oxycerini.
Arulenus miae is a species of pygmy grasshopper which is found on the island Mindanao in the Philippines. It was described in 2016 by Josip Skejo and Joy Honezza S. Caballero. They became aware of the species' existence through a photograph posted to a Facebook group. Specimens were later collected from Bukidnon Province. It is named in honor of a friend of Skejo, named Mia.
Hedriodiscus is a genus of soldier flies in the family Stratiomyidae. There are more than 20 described species in Hedriodiscus.
Arthropeina fulva is a species of fly in the family Xylomyidae, the "wood soldier flies".
The Inbiomyiidae are a family of flies first described in 2006. 11 species have been described all in the genus Inbiomyia distributed in the Neotropical region. These are very small, mostly dark flies. The larval biology remains unknown.
