Aspergillus coreanus is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus . It is from the Fumigati section. ^[2] Several fungi from this section produce heat-resistant ascospores, and the isolates from this section are frequently obtained from locations where natural fires have previously occurred. ^[2] The species was first described in 2006. ^[1] A. coreanus produces aszonalenins. ^[3]

Growth and morphology

A. coreanus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
