Baby Bear and the Big, Bad, Wolf is a 1996 children's play by Chet Frame and Jan H. Wolfe. The show combines the fairy tales Little Red Ridinghood , Goldilocks and the Three Bears , The Three Little Pigs , and Hansel and Gretel .
Goldilocks' mother sends her out to go deliver some treats to her sick grandmother. Goldilocks meets a wolf, who gives her a "shortcut" to her grandmother's house. Eventually, tired from her long walk down the "shortcut," Goldilocks stops at a house where she finds three bowls of porridge, three chairs, and three beds. She tries all three porridges and eats the last one, sits in all the chairs and breaks the last one, and lies down in all the beds before falling asleep in the last one. She wakes up to find Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and Baby Bear standing over her. She leaves the house. Goldilocks finally arrives at her grandmother's house, and comes in to find the wolf disguised as her grandmother. The wolf jumps at her, but the actual grandmother comes out of the bathroom and beats him with a baseball bat. Goldilocks tells her about her journey through the woods, and her grandmother gives her a lecture on privacy.
Meanwhile, Big Sister Pig, Little Sister Pig, and Brother Pig are introduced building a straw house. The wolf comes along and blows it down. The pigs run away.
The wolf reveals that she is really a witch in disguise, and when she smells children, she hides. Hansel and Gretel enter, and find a house made out of gingerbread. They eat a piece, and the witch jumps out and locks them up in a cage to eat later.
The witch gathers sticks, which she takes down to the pigs. While she is gone, Goldilocks finds Hansel and Gretel, and runs off to get help. The witch gives the sticks to the pigs, and as she retreats, they begin to build a new house. Goldilocks returns to Hansel and Gretel with Baby Bear, who breaks open both the house and the cage. Hansel and Gretel tell their story, and Goldilocks and Baby Bear head off to Baby Bear's house, Hansel and Gretel promising they'll meet up with them soon. As the pigs complete their house, they see the wolf and hide inside. The wolf is able to blow down the house, but the pigs escape.
The witch returns to her home to eat Hansel and Gretel, who trick her into wandering into her own cage, which they lock her in. They then go off to Baby Bear's house, and the moment they are gone, the witch climbs out of the cage.
Goldilocks and Baby Bear arrive at the Bear house, where they see Goldilocks' grandmother talking with Mama and Papa Bear about the neighborhood watch. Hansel and Gretel soon arrive with the three pigs, who they found on the way there. They decide to build a house out of bricks for Hansel and Gretel and the three pigs to share. They build the house and see the wolf finds it, with them inside. She tries to get in, but can't, so she goes and changes back to the witch, who changes back to the wolf. She goes on like this until the wolf and the witch bump into each other, which of course is impossible, causing both of them to explode, blowing down the house with them. However, everyone inside of it is okay and they all live happily ever after.
Baby Bear- a 12-year-old bear, really named Bruno. Baby is often played by a full grown man. Baby Bear is considered the protagonist of the story, though it has been argued that this is really Goldilocks.
Goldilocks- a 12-year-old girl, who combines the two classic fairy tale characters of Goldilocks and Little Red Ridinghood.
Mom- Goldilocks' mother, often played by the same woman who plays Grandma.
Wolf/Witch- The Big Bad Wolf, the antagonist, a female. who later reveals herself to be the Wicked Witch in disguise. Has not eaten in days.
Mama Bear- Papa Bear's wife and Baby Bear's mother, believes in aliens due to something she read in a magazine.
Papa Bear- Mama Bear's husband, and Baby Bear's father.
Grandma- Goldilocks' grandmother, a member of the neighborhood watch. Often played by the same woman who plays Mom.
Brother Pig- middle aged, though usually played by a youth, a candor character, and a peacemaker between his sisters.
Big Sister Pig- 60-year-old pig, though usually played by a youth, bossy and slightly annoying, likes to annoy her little sister.
Little Sister Pig- middle aged, though usually played by a youth, sarcastic and unenthusiastic about everything.
Hansel- a whiny teenager, irritable and a little bit stupid. Gretel's older brother.
Gretel- Hansel's younger sister. A quick thinking girl in her late teens, more of a problem solver than her brother.
The show was first performed at Kids-N-Co from January 1 to December 31 in 1997. The El Paso Playhouse performed in from June 1 to 30 in 2006, before it finally left Texas in 2012 when it was performed from September 8 to September 16 at Villagers Theatre. The show has been performed one more time since then, from September 15 to 16 at the Mid Michigan Family Theatre in 2014.
"Hansel and Gretel" is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm and published in 1812 in Grimm's Fairy Tales.
Hansel and Gretel is an opera by nineteenth-century composer Engelbert Humperdinck, who described it as a Märchenoper. The libretto was written by Humperdinck's sister, Adelheid Wette, based on the Grimm brothers' fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel". It is much admired for its folk music-inspired themes, one of the most famous being the "Abendsegen" from act 2.
Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, also known as Grimm Masterpiece Theater in the original version, is a Japanese anime anthology series by Nippon Animation. The episodes are adaptations of a variety of folk and fairy tales, and, despite the name, not limited to Grimm's Fairy Tales.
"Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is a British 19th-century fairy tale of which three versions exist. The original version of the tale tells of a badly-behaved old woman who enters the forest home of three bachelor bears whilst they are away. She sits in their chairs, eats some of their porridge, and sleeps in one of their beds. When the bears return and discover her, she wakes up, jumps out of the window, and is never seen again. The second version replaced the old woman with a little girl named Goldilocks, and the third and by far best-known version replaced the original bear trio with Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear.
"Brother and Sister" is a European fairy tale which was, among others, written down by the Brothers Grimm. It is a tale of Aarne–Thompson Type 450. In Russia the story was more commonly known as Sister Alionushka, Brother Ivanushka, and collected by Alexander Afanasyev in his Narodnye russkie skazki.
Bugs Bunny and the Three Bears is a 1944 Merrie Melodies cartoon short directed by Chuck Jones and written by Tedd Pierce. The short was released on February 26, 1944, and features Bugs Bunny. This short marks the first appearance of Jones' dysfunctional version of The Three Bears, and is a parody of the old fairy tale, Goldilocks and The Three Bears.
Faerie Tale Theatre is a 1982-1987 American live-action fairytale fantasy anthology television series of 27 episodes, that originally aired on Showtime from September 11, 1982 until November 14, 1987. It is a retelling of 25 fairy tales, particularly those by The Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, and Hans Christian Andersen, plus the poem "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". Shelley Duvall is the series creator, host, executive producer alongside Bridget Terry and Fred Fuchs, occasional star and narrator, and voice of the animatronic Nightingale. The series was directed by luminaries such as Francis Ford Coppola, Emile Ardolino, and Tim Burton, and features numerous Hollywood stars in character roles. This is one of the first examples of cable original programming, alongside HBO's Fraggle Rock.
Revolting Rhymes is a collection of Roald Dahl poems published in 1982. A parody of traditional folk tales in verse, Dahl gives a re-interpretation of six well-known fairy tales, featuring surprise endings in place of the traditional happily-ever-after finishes. The poems are illustrated by Quentin Blake. It is the shortest children's book he has written.
My Correct Bedtime Stories: Modern Tales for Our Life and Times is a 1994 book written by American writer James Finn Garner, in which Garner satirizes the trend toward political correctness and censorship of children's literature, with an emphasis on humour and parody. The bulk of the book consists of fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs and Snow White, rewritten so that they supposedly represent what a "politically correct" adult would consider a good and moral tale for children.

Wolves Witches and Giants, narrated by Spike Milligan, is a children's cartoon series of humorous adaptations of classic fairy tales, featuring a collection of villains including the wily wolf, a wicked witch and an enormous giant. It was written by musician Ed Welch, based on an LP, also performed by Milligan. The Directors and Producers were Simon & Sara Bor of Honeycomb Animation. There were 4 series of 13 episodes and 3 specials produced for ITV from 1995-99. Reruns ran on Discovery Kids (UK) until its defunct in 2007 and was revived by CITV in 2008 where it still runs.
The Big Bad Wolf is an animated short released on April 13, 1934 by United Artists, produced by Walt Disney and directed by Burt Gillett as part of the Silly Symphony series. Acting partly as a sequel to the wildly successful adaptation of The Three Little Pigs of the previous year, this film also acts as an adaptation of the fairy-tale Little Red Riding Hood, with the Big Bad Wolf from 1933's Three Little Pigs acting as the adversary to Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother.
Hansel and Gretel is a television special that was made in 1983 for The Disney Channel, directed by Tim Burton. It only aired once on October 31, 1983 at 10:30 P.M. The only other times it was shown was as part of the Tim Burton retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Tim Burton L'Exposition at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris as part of a traveling exhibit.
Hansel & Gretel Get Baked is a 2013 American comedy horror film from Mark Morgan, producer of The Twilight Saga film series. Directed by Duane Journey, it stars Michael Welch, Molly Quinn and Lara Flynn Boyle. The film was released in theaters and on VOD on February 19, 2013.

The themes and characters of the stories stem from Grimm's Fairytales. Each story is told from the perspective of a different fairytale character including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Goldilocks. The series is set at the boarding school Grimm Academy in the country of Grimmlandia where these brave girls deal with life in middle school, are chosen by magic charms, and work to foil dastardly plots of the E.V.I.L. Goldie & Bear is an American animated preschool television series which began on September 12, 2015. The show was created for Disney Junior by Jorge Aguirre and Rick Gitelson. It was directed by Chris Gilligan and produced using CGI animation. It featured songs by Rob Cantor and score by Greg Nicolett and Gregory James Jenkins. Season one was produced by Milk Barn Animation and lasted from September 12, 2015 to August 15, 2016. The show was renewed for a second season in 2016, which was produced by Titmouse, Inc, that ran from September 18, 2017 to October 1, 2018.
The Bear's Tale is a 1940 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies animated cartoon short, directed by Tex Avery. The short was released on April 3, 1940, and stars the Three Bears.
Gretel & Hansel is a 2020 horror film based on the German folklore tale "Hansel and Gretel" by the Brothers Grimm. The film is directed by Oz Perkins, and produced by Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Dan Kagan, with a screenplay by Rob Hayes. Sophia Lillis and Sam Leakey portray the title characters, alongside Charles Babalola, Jessica De Gouw, and Alice Krige. The story follows Gretel and Hansel as they enter the dark woods in order to find work and food, and then stumble upon the home of a witch.
