The individual events for badminton at the 1965 SEAP Games will be held from 14 to 21 December 1965 at the Selangor Badminton Association Hall, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. [1] Five events were contested: the men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. [2]

The 1979 WBF World Championships took place in June 1979 in Hangzhou, China. It was one of the two editions of the world championships organised by the WBF, which was a rival body of the Badminton World Federation.

Nguyễn Anh Huy (1943–2006), formerly known as Smas Slayman, was a Cambodian-Vietnamese badminton player and coach. He was one of Cambodia's top badminton players in the 1960s. Originally from Vĩnh Long, he moved to Cambodia at a young age under the name Slayman.
