The men's doubles badminton tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place from 27 July to 5 August 2024 at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena at Paris. [1] A total of 34 players from 15 nations are expected to compete at the tournament.

Format

The 17 teams are split into three pools of four teams and one pool of five teams. They will play a round-robin tournament with the top-two ranked teams advancing to the knockout stage. Each game will be played in a best-of-3. [2]

Misha Zilberman is an Israeli Olympic badminton player. He competed for Israel at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympics, coming in 33rd, 14th, and 15th respectively. He also won a bronze medal at the 2022 European Badminton Championships, and bronze medals at the 2019 and 2023 European Games. He is the first Israeli player to win a medal at the European Badminton Championships. Zilberman will represent Israel at the 2024 Summer Olympics in badminton in the Men's singles from 27 July to 5 August 2024, at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena in Paris, in his fourth consecutive Olympic Games.

The BWF World Ranking is the official ranking of the Badminton World Federation for badminton players who participate in tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation. It is used to determine the qualification for the World Championships and Summer Olympic Games, as well as BWF World Tour tournaments. Seedings of draws at all BWF-sanctioned tournaments are conducted using the BWF World Ranking. Christopher Phillip Langridge is a retired British badminton player. He competed for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won three medals. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and won a bronze medal in the men's doubles, partnered with Marcus Ellis. They also won gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 European Games.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Marcus Ellis</span> British badminton player (born 1989)

Marcus Ellis is a British badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion in the English National Championships. Ellis and Chris Langridge won a bronze medal in the men's doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, also gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. At the 2019 Minsk European Games, Ellis captured two gold medals; in the men's doubles with Langridge and in the mixed doubles event with Lauren Smith.

There are 172 quota places available for qualification for badminton at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The Olympic qualification period took place between April 29, 2019 and April 25, 2021, and the Badminton World Federation rankings list, scheduled to publish on June 15, 2021, was used to allocate spots. Nations can enter a maximum of two players each in the men's and women's singles if both are ranked in the world's top 16; otherwise, one quota place until the roster of thirty-eight players has been completed. Similar regulations also apply to the players competing in the doubles, as the NOCs can enter a maximum of two pairs if both are ranked in the top eight, while the remaining NOCs are entitled to one until the quota of 16 highest-ranked pairs is filled.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2020 Thomas & Uber Cup</span> Biennial international badminton championship

The 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 31st edition of the Thomas Cup and the 28th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament were played at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the first time that Denmark hosted the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup tournament and the first time this event was held in Europe since England 1982. It was due to be played on 15–23 August 2020, but on 29 April 2020 it was postponed to the 3–11 October due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 15 September 2020 it was again postponed and on 21 December 2020 it was announced that it was postponed to 9–17 October 2021.

The women's tournament of water polo at the 2024 Summer Olympics at Paris, France will be held from 27 July to 10 August 2024. It will be held at the Paris Aquatic Centre and Paris La Défense Arena. It will be the seventh official appearance of the tournament.
