Balkur (Persian : بالكور‎, also Romanized as Bālkūr)^[1] is a village in Maraveh Tappeh Rural District, in the Central District of Maraveh Tappeh County, Golestan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 105, in 24 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Maraveh Tappeh Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Maraveh Tappeh County, Golestan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 23,274, in 4,497 families. The rural district has 56 villages.

The District has one city: Maraveh Tappeh. The District has two rural districts (dehestan): Maraveh Tappeh Rural District and Palizan Rural District.

Balkur is also a place of Udupi District of India and also a place of Uthara Kannada District of India. Balkur is a large village located in Kundapura of Udupi district, Karnataka with total 584 families residing.
