Banayem (Persian : بنايم‎, also Romanized as Banāyem and Banā'em)^[1] is a village in Gavdul-e Sharqi Rural District, in the Central District of Malekan County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 309, in 81 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Gavdul-e Sharqi Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Malekan County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 7,264, in 1,709 families. The rural district has 22 villages.

The Central District of Malekan County is a district (bakhsh) in Malekan County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 77,132, in 19,482 families. The District has one city: Malekan. The District has three rural districts (dehestan): Gavdul-e Gharbi Rural District, Gavdul-e Markazi Rural District, and Gavdul-e Sharqi Rural District.
