Production was handled by Myke Diesel, Donald "XL" Robertson and Serious. It features guest appearances from Master P, Curren$y, Germany, Motor Bike Mike, Petey Pablo and Pop. The album peaked at number 88 on the Billboard 200, number 22 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, number 13 on the Top Rap Albums and number 7 on the Independent Albums charts in the United States. The album's lead single "We Like Them Girls" made it to number 69 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number 15 on the Hot Rap Songs charts.

Like most of No Limit's albums in the 1990s, the album was a success, peaking at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and at number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums; as well as number 21 on the Top Heatseekers. After debuting on the charts with 197,000 copies sold its first week out, Life or Death achieved platinum status moving over 2 million copies by the end of 1999. In its second week of release, the album charted at number 7 on the Billboard 200, then at number 10 in its third week.

The album features guest appearances by Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, Silkk the Shocker, Young Gunz and more Trapped In Crime was another success for C-Murder peaking at #9 on the Billboard 200 and becoming his third straight album to land in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart while simultaneously making it to #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums selling 156,000 copies in its first week.

Down South Hustlers: Bouncin' and Swingin' is a compilation album released by No Limit Records. It was released on October 31, 1995, as one of the first releases through the No Limit/Priority Records partnership. The album didn't make it as high as some of No Limit's later releases, but it managed to peak at #139 on the Billboard 200 and #13 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
