The Battle of Beit Lahia is an ongoing [ citation needed ] battle that began on 4 November 2023 in the midst of the 2023 Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.

4 November

IDF presence was reported in northwestern Beit Lahia after IDF had advanced along the coast west of Beit Lahia. al-Qassem Brigades also claimed attacks on IDF forces in the areas northwest of Beit Lahia and west of Atatra. [1]

20 November

Israeli forces advanced southwards to the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya and as well as the strongholds of Hama's Northern Brigade in Jabalia . The Gaza Health Ministry director, Munir al Bursh claimed that Israeli tanks had reached the hospital's northern gate. The al Quds Brigades claimed to have launched mortar attacks on Israeli forces near Sheikh Zayed Towers. Heavy fighting was reported nea the al Awda road heading to the Indonesian Hospital. al-Quds brigades claimed to have wounded six IDF soldiers. [2]

Beit Hanoun or Beit Hanun is a Palestinian city on the northeast edge of the Gaza Strip. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the town had a population of 52,237 in 2017. From mid-2007 until late 2023, it was administered by the Hamas administration. Beit Hanoun has been entirely depopulated and virtually all its structures either destroyed or rendered unusable due to extreme damage following the 2023 Israel-Hamas war. The remains of Beit Hanoun are located by the Nahal-Hanun stream, just 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) away from the Israeli town of Sderot.

In 2008, Israel sought to halt the rocket and mortar fire from Gaza that killed four Israeli civilians that year and caused widespread trauma and disruption of life in Israeli towns and villages close to the Gaza border.
