Between the Buried and Me is a North Carolina-based progressive metalcore band. The discography of the group has seen a shift from a short, song-based approach in their earlier albums to a more conceptual approach in their later offerings. [1] [2] The band has been known throughout their career for employing a wide variety of musical styles in their compositions, often combining them with technically demanding playing. [3]

The album, which was recorded mainly at The Wade Studios in Ocala, Florida, from May to July 2010, was the first to feature guitarist Kevin Skaff. The album was produced mostly by Chad Gilbert, with help from Andrew Wade and the band's vocalist, Jeremy McKinnon. "All I Want" was released as the first single. The first single, "Memory Palace" was released on April 3, 2015.
