Lieutenant General (Ret.) Bibit Waluyo (born 5 August 1949) is an Indonesian politician and former high ranking military officer who served as the governor of Central Java from 2008 until 2013,when he was defeated by Ganjar Pranowo. Prior to entering politics,he was an officer in the Indonesian Army,rising to the rank of lieutenant general and going on to hold the command of Kodam Jaya. [1]
His military career began after graduating from the Army Military Academy in Magelang in 1972. Waluyo's career in the military field gradually began as a Combat Platoon Commander for Kodam II/Bukit Barisan (1973) with the rank of Second Lieutenant. Since then his career has continued to climb and he was given the trust to serve as Commander of the Infantry Battalion 407/Padma Kusuma (1986–1988) which successfully carried out operations in East Timor. [2] He later served as Commander of Kostrad from 3 July 2002 to 3 November 2004.
Bibit Waluyo and Rustriningsih were officially inaugurated as Governor and Deputy Governor of Central Java on 23 August 2008 by the Minister of Home Affairs Mardiyanto at the Central Java DPRD Building,Jalan Pahlawan,Semarang. He started his career as Governor of Central Java with a program that he launched during the 2008 Gubernatorial Election,namely Bali Ndeso Mbangun Deso or returning to the village and building a village. This program reaps the pros and cons. But on the other hand,this program has succeeded in bringing Central Java into a province that can be self-sufficient in rice in 2012. Bibit Waluyo also has a record of controversies during his reign,including the issue of the rift in his relationship with his deputy Rustriningsih. Bibit also frequently made controversial statements,including his statement insulting the Mayor of Solo,Joko Widodo,as a fool for not giving permission to build the Saripetojo mall,which caused the residents of Solo to forbid him from coming to Solo,as well as his statement in 2012 at an event attended by delegates from other countries who mentioned that the art of kuda lumping is the ugliest art in the world. KODAM IV/Diponegoro or IV Military Regional Command/Diponegoro is a military area command of the Indonesian Army. It covers the provinces of Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta on the island of Java. It is named after the Java War hero Prince Diponegoro. It appears to have been first established in 1950,and inherited the heritage of the former 3rd Diponegoro Division and other Central Java infantry units. Diponegoro Division personnel have been very significant in the history of the Indonesian Army. Among its early officers were Sarwo Edhie Wibowo,who served as battalion and regimental commander in the division from 1945-53. Former commanders of the division include Soeharto,a former president of Indonesia. Divisional personnel,including Lieutenant Colonel Untung Syamsuri,were involved in the 30 September Movement events of 1965. Former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was also member of this KODAM when he took command of KOREM 072/Pamungkas at Yogyakarta during his military tenure.
Frits Johanes Tumbelaka,also known as Broer Tumbelaka,served in the Indonesian military,rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Prior to his appointment,Widi served as the commander of the Diponegoro Regional Military Command from 2022 to 2023. Widi entered the army in 1993 and had held command of Kopassus and territorial units. He was noted for his closeness with President Joko Widodo due to his position as Surakarta military commander during the mayoralty of Joko Widodo and as Joko Widodo's aide-de-camp.
M. Sukat Subandi was an Indonesian military officer who served as the Regent of Bekasi from 1967 to 1973. Sukat spent most of his career in the Siliwangi Regional Military Command and was the commander of the Majalengka military district from April to September 1962 with the rank of captain. As a lieutenant colonel,Sukat was transferred to the Jakarta Regional Military Command as the commander of the Bekasi military district. He was replaced from the position in July 1966.
