Blake Cashman (born May 10, 1996) is an American professional football linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and was selected by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft. [1]

New York Jets

Cashman was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round (157th overall) of the 2019 NFL draft. [4] He was placed on injured reserve on November 1, 2019. [5]

On September 15, 2020, Cashman was placed on injured reserve after suffering a groin injury in Week 1. [6] He was activated on October 17. [7] On December 3, 2020, he was placed back on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury. [8] [9]

On September 14, 2021, Cashman was placed on injured reserve. [10] He was activated on October 9, 2021. [11] He was placed back on injured reserve after suffering a groin injury in Week 7. [12]

Houston Texans

On March 18, 2022, Cashman was traded to the Houston Texans for a 2023 sixth-round pick. [13] On December 2, he signed a one-year contract extension. [14]

In Week 6 of the 2023 season, Cashman recorded 15 tackles, two for a loss, and two pass breakups in a 20-13 win over the New Orleans Saints, earning American Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week. [15] In Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, Cashman shifted to the Mike linebacker position with Denzel Perryman suspended and Henry To'oTo'o out with a concussion. He recorded a career–high 19 tackles (13 solo), including two quarterback hits in the 21–16 victory. [16]

Minnesota Vikings

On March 13, 2024, Cashman signed a three-year, $22.5 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings. [17]
