Tai Felton (born March 15, 2003) is an American football wide receiver for the Maryland Terrapins.

Early life

Felton was born on March 15, 2003, in Ashburn, Virginia, later attending Stone Bridge High School. [1] [2] [3] He was a three-star rated recruit and committed to play college football at the University of Maryland, College Park [4] over offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Wake Forest, Michigan State and Liberty. [5]

College career

During Felton's true freshman season in 2021, he played in eight games as a wide receiver, finishing the season with five totaled receptions for 51 yards. [6]

During the 2022 season, he played in all 13 games and started six of them at wide receiver, finishing the season with 23 totaled receptions for 309 yards and two touchdowns. [7]

During the 2023 season, he played in and started all 13 games at wide receiver, finishing the season with 48 totaled receptions for 723 yards and six touchdowns, along with a rushing attempt for 16 yards. [8] Felton was selected for the Media's Third-team All-Big Ten. [9]

The Maryland–West Virginia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Maryland Terrapins and West Virginia Mountaineers. The two schools are strong rivals due to several factors, including similar recruiting areas and the relatively short distance between each other, approximately 210 miles (340 km) apart. The two teams first played in 1919 and the series ran uninterrupted from 1980 to 2007. West Virginia leads the series 28–23–2. The two teams met for the Gator Bowl for a rematch at the end of the 2003 season. Until the series lapsed in 2007, the game was the longest continuously running non-conference game for both schools. The two teams met again in Morgantown in 2015 and in College Park in 2021, with West Virginia and Maryland winning respectively.
