Blast Radio (formerly known as Tube Radio) is the student radio station and Students' Union Club for University of West London. [5] They broadcast online [6] from studios based on campus. And on an RSL across the local area for four weeks in May. The station is a member of UK Student Radio Association. [7]

History

Originally launched in 1994 as Tube Radio [8] it was later rebranded to its current name in 2007, bringing it in line with sister station Blast 1386AM based at the Reading campus, which was then part of Thames Valley University. [9]

At the time it was the first University in the United Kingdom to feature two student radio stations within the same institution.[ citation needed ]

The original studios were based at Ealing Studios from launch 1994 up until February 2015 when they moved to new purpose built studios on campus within 'The Heartspace'. [10] [11] [12] [13]

Achievements

The station was nominated for a "Best Station" award in 2007 and a "Best Marketing and Promotion" award in 2009, [14] at the annual Student Radio Awards.

DemonFM is a student radio station based at De Montfort University in Leicester, England. The station broadcasts online during term time. It was established in 1995 by the Communications Officer of the time, Rob Martin. The first licensed broadcast was on 106.4 FM from 29 September 1995 to 26 October 1995 and the second broadcast was on 106.2 FM from 22 April 1996 to 19 May 1996. DemonFM continued to broadcast on Restricted Service Licences until 2008 with the last of the RSL broadcasts taking place on 97.5FM. DemonFM finished their 26th and final RSL on 30 November 2008.

Subcity Radio is a non-profit freeform radio station, arts collective and events promoter based at the University of Glasgow which is run by volunteers from the University and local community with the aim of providing an alternative to commercial and mainstream radio providers. Blast1386 is the student radio station for Reading College. They previously broadcast locally from their Kings Road Campus over 1386AM and online from Room A59. The station first started broadcasting in April 2002. Since February 2020 the 1386 AM transmitter has been off the air and by June 2020 the web stream had also ceased. The station currently appears to be defunct.

MetFilm School (MFS) is a private film school based in London within Ealing Studios. MetFilm consists of MetFilm School, MetFilm Production, MetFilm Sales, MetFilm Futures, and ScreenSpace.

Riverside Radio is a local digital radio station based in Battersea, London, which broadcasts local news, sports, music and specialist shows. It can be listened to via its website https://www.riversideradio.com/. Its main audience is based in South West London.
