Bloodborne PSX [a] is a 2022 action role-playing game published by LWMedia as a demake of FromSoftware's Bloodborne . The game was developed by Lilith 'b0tster' Walther and Corwyn Prichard. The game uses a low poly artstyle heavily inspired by the original PlayStation. [b]
Bloodborne PSX was inspired by mockup screenshots of a Bloodborne demake that Walther viewed around 2015. The game was developed in a total of 13 months, with Walther pausing development in order to finish her other game Arcus. [1]
Bloodborne PSX takes place within the city of Yharnam with players able to follow the first section of Bloodborne up to the fight against the enemy Father Gascoigne. The player takes the role of the Hunter who awakes within the city of Yharnam and following the same plot as Bloodborne. [2]
The original control scheme of Bloodborne was reworked to emulate being played on a PS1 controller, notably controlling character movement with a D-pad and implementing an enemy lock on system to adapt to the lack of analog sticks. [3]
Bloodborne PSX received generally positive reviews, with reviewers praising the game's unique retro artstyle and faithful recreations of the source media in both game play and art style. [2] [3]
The game proved very popular, with 100,000 downloads within the first day of release on itch.io. Some attributed this large popularity to the lack of a Bloodborne port on the PC. [2] [4]

Yharnam is a fictional city that is the primary setting of Bloodborne, a 2015 video game developed by FromSoftware. Heavily featuring Gothic Revival architecture, the city was founded by and experienced rapid growth due to an organization known as the Healing Church. The Church, which discovered miraculous, occult blood in ancient catacombs beneath the city that could cure any illness, drew many people to Yharnam from across the land. It encouraged rampant xenophobia, with its residents, Yharnamites, resenting and mocking "outsiders". However, the use of the ancient blood had unintended consequences, as it began to indiscriminately transform those who possessed it into beasts, a plague that the Church attempted to suppress. Despite this, a phenomenon known as the Blood Moon brings about the city's downfall. When the player encounters Yharnam, most of its surviving inhabitants are either in hiding or already becoming beasts. Yharnam was praised by critics for its architectural and level design, as well as the subversion of classic Lovecraftian tropes in its lore and characters.
