AIDAvita [3] is a cruise ship, built by Aker MTW at Wismar, Germany in 2002 and was operated by AIDA Cruises until the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022 she was sold to Turkish buyers and renamed Avitak, remaining laid up, and resold in 2024 for operation by Chinese line, Blue Dream International Cruise.
AIDAvita was the second ship in AIDA Cruises' fleet, and identical to AIDAaura. She was built in 2002 by the German shipyard Aker MTW in Wismar. [1]
Out of service during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was laid up at Tallinn, Estonia in November 2021. [4] In June 2022, AIDA Cruises announced that the ship would not return to service for AIDA Cruises and had been sold to an undisclosed buyer. [5] Later, she was renamed Avitak but remained laid up in Tallinn, Estonia. [4] and listed as owned by Beta Marine Ltd. of Majuro, Marshall Islands, and managed by Istanbul-based Sealife Denizcilik Ltd. Sti. [6]
In January 2024, the ship was sold to China Development Bank, Hong Kong for lease to Chinese operator Blue Dream International Cruise of Shanghai. The ship is to be renamed Blue Dream Melody and is expected to enter service after refurbishment in China. [7] The ship arrived in March 2024 in China. [8]

A dual-listed company, Carnival is composed of the Panama-incorporated, US-headquartered Carnival Corporation, and UK-based Carnival plc, which function as one entity. Carnival Corporation is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, whereas Carnival plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange with an ADR listing on the NYSE. Carnival is listed in both the S&P 500 and FTSE 250 indices.
MS Isabelle X is a cruiseferry owned and operated till July 2023 by the Estonian based Tallink and in January 2024 sold to Notamare Shipping. She was built in 1989 by Brodosplit in Split, Yugoslavia, for SF Line—one of the partners in the Viking Line consortium—as Isabella. The ship served as refugee housing in Tallinn until 1 July 2023.
Celestyal Discovery is a cruise ship, built in 2003 by the German shipyard Aker MTW in Wismar, and was operated by AIDA Cruises for twenty years as AidaAura, as was her sister ship AIDAvita. In November 2023 the ship was sold to the Greek cruise line Celestyal Cruises and entered service in March 2024.
Astoria Grande is a cruise ship which entered service as Aida in 1996 in the fleet of German cruise company, AIDA Cruises. She was their first cruise ship and in 2001 became AIDAcara. In 2021 the ship was sold to a Russian company and renamed Astoria Grande.
MS Dreamward was a cruise ship owned and operated by Star Cruises. She was built in 1992 by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France as MS Dreamward for traffic with Norwegian Cruise Line. In 1998 she was lengthened at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany and renamed as Norwegian Dream. In late 2012, she was transferred to the fleet of Star Cruises and renamed SuperStar Gemini.
MSMarella Dream was a cruise ship built in 1986 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, West Germany as Homeric for Home Lines, and their last newbuild to remain in active service. In 1988 she was sold to Holland America Line, renamed Westerdam, and in 1990 lengthened by 36.9 m at Meyer Werft. In 2002 she was transferred to the fleet of Costa Cruises and renamed Costa Europa. In April 2010 she was taken on a ten-year charter by Thomson Cruises, under the name Thomson Dream.
MS Jubilee was a cruise ship that was originally built for Carnival Cruise Line. She was the second of three ships to be built for Carnival's Holiday class. She was last owned by the Chinese company HNA Cruise Company, Limited, for service in the West Pacific region. The ship was retired and scrapped in 2017.
MS Celestyal Olympia is a cruise ship owned by the Cyprus-based Celestyal Cruises, formerly Louis Cruise Lines. In April 2012 she was named Louis Olympia after operating as the Thomson Destiny for Thomson Cruises. She was built in 1982 at Wärtsilä Hietalahti shipyard in Helsinki, Finland for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as MS Song of America. Between 1999 and 2004 she sailed for Sun Cruises as MS Sunbird. She was previously under charter to the United Kingdom-based Thomson Cruises until April 2012 as the MS Thomson Destiny. She has since sailed for Louis Cruises as MS Louis Olympia, and as MS Celestyal Olympia since 2014.
Resorts World One is a Leo-class cruise ship operating for Resorts World Cruises. The ship most recently operated with Dream Cruises as Explorer Dream. She was built in 1999 by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany as SuperStar Virgo for Star Cruises.
MS James Joyce is a fast Ro-Pax ferry operated by Irish Ferries on the Dublin to Holyhead and Cherbourg routes on charter from Tallink. She was built as Star at Aker Finnyards Helsinki Shipyard, Finland for Tallink and entered service on their Helsinki – Tallinn service on 12 April 2007. After being chartered by Irish Ferries in 2023, the ship's name was changed to Oscar Wilde. In May 2024, Irish Ferries renamed the ferry James Joyce.
MS Windward was a cruise ship that was built in 1993 by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France for Kloster Cruise as Windward. In 1998 she was lengthened at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany and renamed Norwegian Wind. In 2007 she was transferred to the fleet of Star Cruises as SuperStar Aquarius. The ship remained in passenger service for the cruise line until the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown in 2020. The ship was sold for scrap as Arius in 2022 following the liquidation of the cruise line's parent company after filing for bankruptcy, which also led to the demise of Star Cruises.
Blue Dream Star was a Liberia-registered passenger ship. The ship was built in Germany in 2001 by Blohm + Voss and originally named Olympia Explorer. The ship was later renamed Explorer when it began sailing for the Semester at Sea program in 2004 and remained with them until 2015.
AIDAbella is a cruise ship operated by AIDA Cruises. Built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, she is a sister ship to AIDAdiva and AIDAluna. The ship has a passenger capacity of over 2,050. The name AIDAbella was chosen after a competition to name the new ship. The name was meant to signify how beautiful the ship is.
MS Birka Stockholm is a cruise ship owned jointly by Rederi AB Gotland and Viking Line. She was built in 2004 by Aker Finnyards at Rauma, Finland for Birka Line, later owned by Rederi Ab Eckerö, and operated under their Birka Cruises brand. She sailed as Birka Paradise until 2013.
MS Nautica is a cruise ship built for Renaissance Cruises as part of their R class. As part of their Regatta Class, Nautica is now owned and operated by Oceania Cruises. She was built in 2000 by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, for Renaissance Cruises as MS R Five. She sailed for Pullmantur Cruises between 2002 and 2004 before entering service with her current owners in 2005.
MV Boudicca was a Royal Viking Star-class cruise ship that last served as accommodation vessel at Pendik, near Tuzla Shipyard. She was built in 1973 by Wärtsilä Helsinki Shipyard, Finland as Royal Viking Sky for Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskap, Trondheim, which placed the ship in Royal Viking Line service. In May 2021 the ship was beached in Aliağa, Turkey, for scrapping.
AIDAluna is a Sphinx-class cruise ship, owned by US based Carnival Corp and operated by AIDA Cruises. Built by Meyer Werft shipyards in Papenburg, Germany, she is the third ship of the class, preceded by AIDAdiva and AIDAbella, and is followed by AIDAblu, AIDAsol, and AIDAmar. The ship has a capacity of 2,100 passengers and has a gross tonnage of 69,203. AIDAluna was initially deployed in the Baltic Sea for the 2009 Summer season. In Winter 2009, she was redeployed in Canary Islands. AIDAluna has an 8 × 4.5-m poolside theater, which is a first for AIDA Cruises.
AIDAsol is a Sphinx-class cruise ship, built at Meyer Werft for AIDA Cruises. She is the fifth Sphinx series ship, preceded by sisters AIDAdiva, AIDAbella, AIDAluna, and AIDAblu, and followed by AIDAmar and AIDAstella. AIDAsol was delivered in March 2010. She was christened on 9 April 2011.
Meyer Wismar is a German shipbuilding company, headquartered in Wismar. After June 1, 1990 it was part of the Deutschen Maschinen- und Schiffbau AG, from 2009 it was part of the Nordic Yards Holding GmbH, and in 2016 it became part of the Lloyd Werft Group. In June 2022 Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) acquired the Wismar site of MV Werften. In November 2022, a lease agreement was signed with Meyer Werft to complete the Global Dream with the yard renamed Meyer Wismar.
