Bogdan Rath (born 28 June 1972) is a Romanian and later Italian water polo player who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics (for Romania) and in the 2004 Summer Olympics (for Italy). [1] In June 2022, he became the coach of the Romanian national polo team and the Steaua Bucharest club team.
He won the national championship 5 times with the Steaua Bucharest team and the Romanian Cup 2 times with the Steaua Bucharest team. He ranked 4th at the European Championship in Sheffield with the Romanian National Team and participated in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with the Romanian national team.
He started playing at the age of 8, registered since 1980 at the CSS 1 Bucharest club with which he won 2 national titles. As a junior he was selected for the European Junior Championship in 1989. At the age of 17, in 1989 he started playing in the first division at the Sportul Studențesc Bucharest club, later continuing to be registered at the Steaua Bucharest Club from 1991 to 1996 when he moved to Italy at first division club Paguros Catania, with whom he won the Cairo Comen Cup in 1996.
In only 18 months he won 2 Romanian cups and 1 Romanian super league (being declared the best coach) with Steaua and reached the quarterfinals of the Len cup.
Marius Mihai Lăcătuș is a football coach and former professional footballer. He is by far the most successful footballer ever to play for Steaua București and was part of their European Cup victory in 1986. Lăcătuș is the all-time top scorer for Steaua with 16 goals in European competitions. On 7 July 2021, Steaua retired his shirt number 7 at the inauguration match of the new Steaua Stadium.

Tibor Benedek was a Hungarian professional water polo player and coach, widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He played on the gold medal squads at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics. Benedek also competed at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics, where the Hungarian team placed 6th and 4th, respectively.

Clubul Sportiv al Armatei Steaua București, commonly known as CSA Steaua București or simply Steaua, is a major multi-sports club based in Bucharest and run by the Ministry of National Defence. It is one of the most successful clubs in Romania and among the most successful multi-sport clubs in Europe. Founded on 7 June 1947 as Asociația Sportivă a Armatei București, the club changed its name several times before settling on to Steaua in 1961.
Norbert Madaras is a Hungarian water polo player, who won the gold medal with the men's national team at the 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics. He also was on the squad that claimed the title at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships and the 2013 World Aquatics Championships. Madaras won the Euro League 2007 with Pro Recco.
Mercédesz Stieber is a water polo player from Hungary, who competed for her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and Beijing 2008. She won the 1994 and 2005 World Championships and the 1991 and 2001 European Championships.

Nikola Rađen is a Serbian water polo player who plays for Serbian club Crvena zvezda. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He won with Serbia the 2009 World Championship as well as the 2012 Eindhoven European Championship. Rađen has also won 2 LEN Euroleagues with his former clubs Partizan Raiffeisen (2011) and VK Crvena zvezda (2013).
NO Vouliagmeni or "NOV" is a major aquatic sports club, founded by local sportsmen in 1937 in the seaside resort of Vouliagmeni, Athens, Greece. The club is located on the eastern edge of the Mikro Kavouri peninsula, adjacent to the Astir Palace Hotel and overlooking the bay, town and lake of Vouliagmeni.
Stefano Tempesti is an Italian water polo goalkeeper. He competed at five consecutive Olympics between 2000 and 2016 and won a silver medal in 2012 and a bronze in 2016. He is the second water polo goalkeeper to compete at five Olympics, after Spaniard Jesús Rollán. Tempesti was the top goalkeeper at the 2008 Olympics, with 83 saves. He was also the top goalkeeper at the 2012 Olympics, with 87 saves.
Cosmin Alexandru Radu is a former Romanian professional water polo player who is currently vice-president of the Romanian Waterpolo Federation. He has played for, Rapid Bucharest, Rari Nantes Florentia, Primorje Rijeka, HAVK Mladost. He was also the captain of Romania's national team for 12 years from 2009 until the end of his professional career.

Slobodan Nikić is a Serbian professional water polo player. He is currently free agent and he is a long-standing member of the Serbia men's national water polo team. His most notable achievements with the national team are the gold medal from the Olympic Games in 2016, silver from the Olympic Games in 2004 and bronze from the Olympic Games 2012, three gold medals from the World Championships in 2005, 2009 and 2015, and five gold medals from the European Championships in 2003, 2006, 2012, 2014, and finally in 2016.
Antonios "Antonis" Vlontakis is a retired Greek water polo player. A long-standing member of the Greece national water polo team, Vlontakis competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics, the 2004 Summer Olympics, and the 2008 Summer Olympics. He was part of the Greece men's national water polo team that won the Bronze Medal in the 2005 World Championship in Montreal and the Bronze Medal in the 2004 World League in Long Beach.
Márton Szivós is a Hungarian water polo player. He is part of the national team since 2003 and competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. He is a son of István Szívós, Jr. and a grandson of István Szívós, both of whom won Olympic gold medals in water polo.
