Bridear (stylized as BRIDEAR) is a Japanese power metal band from Fukuoka, formed in 2011. It currently consists of singer Kimi, guitarists Moe and Ayumi, bassist Haru, and drummer Natsumi. [1] They are represented by Zest and release music under the Avex Trax label.
Bridear was founded in Fukuoka in 2011 by singer Kimi, guitarist Mitsuru, and bassist Haru. [2] Support drummer Kai became an official member in February 2012. [2] Second guitarist Misa joined the band in April, and Bridear had their first live that same month at Spiral Factory. [2] Kimi, Haru, and Kai were previously in a band together, while Mitsuru and Misa were recruited from a website specifically for finding musicians. [2] The demo "Pray/Another Name" was released in August 2012. [3] First single "Thread of the Light/Roulette", released through Rock Stakk, [4] and the extended play Overturn the Doom, through Movement Records, were released the following year. [5]
In the subsequent two years, the single "Light in the Dark/No Salvation" (2014) and concert video Dear Bride (2015) were released. [5] In March 2016, the band released their debut album, Baryte, which was released by Radtone Music, [5] and promoted with an extensive tour of Japan. The EP released in 2017, Rise, was also released by Radtone. [5] Citing musical differences, Misa left Bridear following an October 28, 2017 concert. [6] She was replaced by Misaki, who made her live debut with the band on April 22, 2018. [7] Another EP, Helix, was released on April 11, 2018, this time on Universal Music Japan. [5] Another concert video, Live Tour 2018 Marcasite, was also released in 2018. [5] After seven years, Mitsuru left the band after their December 30, 2018 concert, citing various differences about the direction of the band, both musical and otherwise. [8] In 2019, Bridear joined the Zest talent management agency [9] and switched to the label Avex Trax and released their second studio album Expose Your Emotions at the end of the same year. [5]
In May 2021, the band released their third album, Bloody Bride, which was released internationally by Setsuzoku Records. [10] In September and October 2021, the group toured several European cities. [11] [5] Misaki took medical leave in June 2022 [12] and announced her departure from the band on July 11, replaced immediately by Moe. [13] [14]
According to Fabian Zeitlinger from Metalinside.de, Bridear stand out from other Japanese all-girl rock bands with their more modern sound, described as more of a "metalized" version of Band-Maid than melodic power metal like Aldious or Lovebites. On Bloody Bride, the group oscillates between aggressive power metal with double bass and poppy alternative metal. The band's lyrics are written in both Japanese and English. [15] In a review on JRock News, Bloody Bride is described as a "marriage" between hard rock and progressive metal and a worthy successor to Expose Your Emotions. [10] Shawn Kupfer, in his review for Idobi, describes the music as "fast-paced power metal with pop music sensibilities", evocative of X Japan's Blue Blood era, and concluded that Bridear's music shares the DNA of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal while also breaking new ground. [16]

Visual kei, abbreviated v-kei, is a category of Japanese musicians that have a strong focus on extravagant stage costumes that originated in Japan during the early 1980s. Koji Dejima of Bounce wrote that visual kei is not a specific sound, but rather it "revolves around the creation of a band's unique worldview and/or stylistic beauty through visual expressions in the form of makeup and fashion". While visual kei acts can be of any music genre, it originated with bands influenced by glam rock, heavy metal, punk rock and gothic rock.
Crystal Lake is a Japanese metalcore band from Tokyo, formed in 2002. The band comprises vocalist John Robert Centorrino, guitarists Yudai Miyamoto and Hisatsugu Taji, bassist Mitsuru, and drummer Gaku Taura, who is a former member of Nocturnal Bloodlust. After Shinya Hori's departure, Miyamoto is the only member of the original line-up who remains in the band. Crystal Lake have released five studio albums. Their latest studio album, Helix, was released on 28 November 2018.
Golden Bomber is a Japanese visual kei "air" rock band formed in 2004 and signed to the independent label Euclid Agency. Despite not actually performing the instruments themselves during concerts, they have gained popularity through their theatrical "live shows".
Aldious is a Japanese heavy metal band from Osaka, formed in 2008 by guitarist Yoshi and vocalist Rami. After a few member changes, they released their debut EP Dear Slave the following year and soon after formed their own record label, Bright Star Records. A stabilized line-up including guitarist Toki, bassist Sawa and drummer Aruto was established by 2010. Their first album Deep Exceed (2010) reached the top 15 on the Oricon chart, as did their second Determination (2011). However, Rami announced she was leaving the group in June 2012 and new vocalist Re:NO joined Aldious just one month later. They produced their third album District Zero in 2013 and it became their highest-charting release to date, reaching number 7.
Shishamo is a Japanese band. Formed in 2010 while at high school in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, the band began releasing music in 2012.

Pentagon (ペンタゴン) is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in 2014. Members Chizuru and Minpha started the limited time band 'Call Me ...' as a two-member unit, with Taku on guitar and Atsuki on drums. After 13 December 2014, Atsuki and Taku became official members and Yutori was added to the band.
Band-Maid is a Japanese rock band formed in 2013, consisting of singer Saiki Atsumi, guitarist/singer Miku Kobato, lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, bassist Misa, and drummer Akane Hirose. The band combines a rock sound with a maid image modeled on Japanese maid cafés. They are currently signed to Pony Canyon. Their most recent studio recording, the EP Unleash, was released in September 2022.
New Beginning is the second mini-album released by all-female Japanese hard rock band Band-Maid. It is the band's final release under Gump Records, as they joined Nippon Crown the following year. The album reached number 64 on the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart. The album was originally scheduled to be released on November 4, 2015, but was pushed back two weeks.
Honey is the eighth studio album by Japanese rock band Scandal. The album was released on February 14, 2018, by Epic Records Japan. It features a total of ten songs, including the 2016 single "Take Me Out". Honey reached number 3 on both the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts. The album was released on March 2, 2018, in Europe and North America by JPU Records.
Lovebites is a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by former Destrose members Miho and Haruna. Its lineup currently consists of Haruna on drums, Midori and Miyako on guitar, Asami on vocals, and Fami on bass. After signing to Victor Entertainment, the group released both their debut EP and their first album in 2017, The Lovebites EP and Awakening from Abyss, before performing their first overseas concerts at the end of the year. With another EP and album released in 2018, Battle Against Damnation and Clockwork Immortality, Lovebites quickly garnered international attention and won that year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band. Following the releases of Electric Pentagram (2020) and Glory, Glory, to the World (2021), bassist Miho left the band in August 2021. After a year-long hiatus, Lovebites recruited Fami on bass and released Judgement Day, their fourth album, in February 2023. It is their highest-charting record to date, reaching number 5 on both the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts.

"Elevator Girl" is a song by Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. It was first released as a digital single on May 10, 2019 worldwide by Babymetal Records, and the third single released for the band's third album Metal Galaxy. An English version of the song had a release on August 16, 2019, sent to active rock radio with a music video.
Conqueror is the sixth studio album by the Japanese all-female rock band Band-Maid. It was released digitally on December 4, 2019, with physical formats released one week later. It debuted at number nine on the Oricon Albums Chart and debuted at number one on the Oricon weekly Rock Album ranking. The album was preceded by the singles "Glory" and "Bubble", both released in January 2019. The international version from JPU Records includes English lyric translations and Romaji lyric transliterations.
Unseen World is the seventh studio album by the Japanese all-female rock band Band-Maid. It was released digitally on January 13, 2021, with physical formats released one week later. It is the band's first album for Pony Canyon.
Jiluka is a Japanese visual kei metal band initially formed in May 2013 but restarted in February 2015. The group are an independent band on the label DPR Japan, consisting of members Ricko, Sena, the main songwriter of the songs, Boogie and Zyean. They have released 7 albums and 6 singles so far. It was ranked at the 12 position on the JRock News's top 15 visual kei and Japanese rock artists of 2019. Jiluka is described as "Modern metal visual kei".
"Glory" is the fifth single by Japanese rock band Band-Maid, released in Japan on January 16, 2019, by Crown Stones. The song was used as the second ending theme for the second season of the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. It was released on the same day as "Bubble".
"Sense" is the eighth single by Japanese rock band Band-Maid, released in Japan on October 27, 2021, by Pony Canyon. The song was used as the opening theme song for the anime Platinum End.
Kiryū (己龍) is a Japanese visual kei metal band founded in 2007 with the concept of "Japanese terror" and "painful nostalgia". Formed by vocalist Mahiro Kurosaki, guitarists Takemasa Kujō and Mitsuki Sakai, bassist Hiyori Isshiki and drummer Junji Tokai, each member is represented by a color. They have been part of the independent label B.P Records since 2009.
