Kevin Patrick "Chilli" Chilton is an American mechanical engineer and retired United States Air Force four-star general,test pilot,and NASA astronaut. His last assignment was as commander of U.S. Strategic Command from October 3,2007,to January 28,2011. Prior to his appointment to general officer ranks,Chilton spent 11 years of his military career as a NASA astronaut. He retired from the Air Force on February 1,2011,after having achieved the highest rank of any military astronaut. On January 30,2012,General Chilton was named to the board of directors of Orbital Sciences Corporation.
Tactical Air Command (TAC) is an inactive United States Air Force organization. It was a Major Command of the United States Air Force,established on 21 March 1946 and headquartered at Langley Air Force Base,Virginia. It was inactivated on 1 June 1992 and its personnel and equipment absorbed by Air Combat Command (ACC).
Charles Albert Horner is a retired United States Air Force four-star general. He was born in Davenport,Iowa and attended the University of Iowa,as part of the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. On June 13,1958,Horner was commissioned into the Air Force Reserve. During the Vietnam War,he flew in combat as a Wild Weasel pilot and received the Silver Star. During Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm,he commanded the air forces of the coalition,and he additionally briefly served as Commander-in-Chief —Forward of United States Central Command while General Norman Schwarzkopf,Jr.,the commander of all coalition forces,was still in the United States. He currently serves on the board of directors for the United States Institute of Peace.
