Bruce Hamilton Hay (23 May 1950 – 1 October 2007) was a Scotland international rugby union player.
Hay was born in Edinburgh and educated at Liberton High School. From there he went on to work as an electrical engineer for the National Coal Board. Latterly he worked as a sales representative.
Hay was a fullback. He started his rugby career at junior club Liberton, a team he captained at the age of 18, [2] He then moved to play for Boroughmuir.
He helped Boroughmuir win the Scottish Unofficial Championship in 1973; and was still in their side when they won the Melrose Sevens in 1976. [3]
While still at Liberton he was capped by Edinburgh District. This was an astonishing feat for a junior club player and his tough tackling reputation was sealed. [4] He carried on representing the district when he moved to Boroughmuir.
It was when Hay moved to Boroughmuir in 1972 that he went on to gain international recognition.
He gained 23 international caps for Scotland [5] and also represented the British and Irish Lions on both their 1977 and 1980 tours, and the Barbarians.
He was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2005 and died on 1 October 2007, aged 57. [6]
Christopher Douglas Paterson, MBE is an ambassador and specialist coach for the Scotland and Edinburgh rugby union teams. He is a former professional rugby union player who played for Scotland and, for the most part of his career, Edinburgh. Paterson is Scotland's record points scorer with 809 points and second most-capped player with 109 caps. He was capable of playing in a range of positions, including fullback, wing and fly-half.
Nathan Hines is an Australian-born former rugby union and rugby league footballer. He played at international level for Scotland, winning 77 caps, and at club level for Edinburgh, Perpignan, and Clermont Auvergne among others. He also played rugby league.
Andrew Gavin Hastings, is a Scottish former rugby union player. A fullback, he is widely regarded to be one of the best ever Scottish rugby players and was one of the outstanding players of his generation, winning 61 caps for Scotland, 20 of which as captain. He played for Watsonians, London Scottish, Cambridge University, Scotland and the British Lions. He twice toured with the Lions, to Australia in 1989 and as captain on the 1993 tour to New Zealand.
Andrew Robertson Irvine is a former president of the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU), and a former Scottish international rugby player. He earned fifty one Scotland caps, captaining the team on fifteen occasions, and scored 250 points for Scotland. He went on three British Lions tours.
Scott Hastings is a Scottish sports commentator and former Scotland international rugby union player. At the point of his retirement he was Scotland's most-capped player ever, but this record has now been beaten. He played for Edinburgh District and when that provincial side turned professional he played for Edinburgh Rugby. At amateur level he played for Watsonians.
George Wilson "Doddie" Weir was a Scottish rugby union player who played as a lock. He made 61 international appearances for the Scotland national team and represented the British & Irish Lions.
Iain Angus McLeod Paxton is a Scottish former rugby union player. He won 36 caps for Scotland at number eight and lock between 1981 and 1988, scoring a total of five tries. He also won four caps for the British Lions against New Zealand in 1983.

In 1980 the British Lions rugby union team toured South Africa. The tour was not a success for the Lions, as they lost the first three tests before salvaging some pride with a win in the fourth. The team did however win all their 14 non-international matches. The Lions were captained by Bill Beaumont.

Magnus Donald Blackburn Bradbury is a Scotland international rugby union player who plays for Bristol Bears in the Gallagher Premiership.
