The Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor is a bilateral economic initiative established in 2014 between Brunei Darussalam and China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a key project under China's Belt and Road Initiative and supports Brunei's economic diversification goals under Wawasan Brunei 2035. The corridor covers sectors including logistics, aquaculture, industrial parks, healthcare, and halal food production. Major projects include the China-Brunei Yulin Health Industrial Park and the China-Brunei Agricultural Industrial Park, although both have experienced slow development. The corridor has increased bilateral trade and attracted Chinese investment, particularly in infrastructure, but has faced challenges such as limited policy coordination, low public awareness, and concerns about private sector participation. Future cooperation may expand into the digital and green economies and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). [1]
